War in the Pacific Quarter Ceremony, Coin Exchange and Public Forum

2

Three days after officially introducing the American Memorial Park quarter for the Northern Mariana Islands, the United States Mint and the National Park Service will launch the quarter honoring Quam’s War in the Pacific National Historical Park.

War in the Pacific National Historical Park Quarter
Designed by Joel Iskowitz and sculpted by Michael Gaudioso, the War in the Pacific National Historical Park quarter for Guam depicts American forces coming ashore at Asan Bay, strengthening the number of troops on the island in the fight for Guam and its eventual liberation. The coin marks the third release this year and the forty-eighth in the U.S. Mint’s America the Beautiful Quarter® Program.

This year’s third public quarter ceremony will take place at the park on Friday, May 3. There will be a coin forum held on the evening before the launch ceremony and a coin exchange immediately after it.

War in the Pacific quarters will enter general circulation beginning on June 3 but it can take a long time before they appear in change since Federal Reserve Banks distribute coins to financial institutions without regard to their designs. The launch ceremony offers everyone in attendance an early opportunity to get this third of five 2019-dated quarters.
