The Friday Fun Blog: 10,000 Coin Dominoes Fall

We thought we’d try something new and unusual. Let’s get a little casual and throw a little fun into the mix! It is Friday after all.

I was on YouTube last night and I happened along a video. I just had to pass it around.

The video has been online for over a year, it has coins and it’s been seen over 660,000! You can’t lose with that, right?

Even if you’ve already seen it, it’s worth another watch. It really is.

The video is called ‘Coin dominoes‘. Supposedly, there are 10,000 pound coins set up. I’d have to say that count is close.

Just click the video to begin. I hope you enjoy it!

London Olympic Dig Reveals Old Roman Coin and Pottery

An example of a Roman coin, like the one found on an Olympic dig siteLondon is the host city for the Games of the XXX Olympiad in 2012. Billions will be spent on infrastructure and other improvements in supporting the Olympic Games.

To hit timelines and get ready for the games, construction work has already begun.

That work has resulted in interesting archeological discoveries while digging for the planned Aquatics Centre in Stratford, east London.

In what looks to be an area that was once a small settlement, pottery from the 4th century and an old Roman coin were found buried beneath a river wall.

Million Dollar Bill Bogus in More Ways Than One?

There’s an absurd prickle to the mind upon first hearing someone is thrown into jail for trying to open a bank account with a fake $1M dollar bill.

Bogus Million Bill

It’s close to the same level of thinking as someone trying to pass off a video game token or 2007 penny for a million bucks to a rare coin dealer.

Australia’s First Million Dollar Penny and First Coin

Two firsts meet — Australia’s very first coin and its very first million dollar coin — at the Coinworks Dollars & Dumps Exhibition in Melbourne.

The Australian Proof 1930 Penny is valued at more than one million dollars. Alongside the penny, and not to be short-changed by much in comparative uniqueness, if at all, is the first Australian coin, the 1788 Holey Dollar.

These two coins have been described as iconic. It’s easy to see why. The Proof 1930 Penny, 1778 Holey Dollar and several other rare coins make up an over $4 million presentation from Coinworks. That presentation can be viewed through November 30.
