After a two-week hiatus, the U.S. Mint updated sales figures for its numismatic products, offering first looks at the performances of very new releases, such as the 2024 Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray quarter and 2024 Native American dollar, as well as for a few-week-old releases like the Illinois Innovation dollar and the 2024-W Proof American Silver Eagle.
Last week, the U.S. Mint released rolls and bags of Reverend Dr. Pauli Murray quarters, priced between $40 and $60, as well as rolls, bags and boxes of 2024 Native American dollars, which are priced between $34.50 and $289.75.
Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray Quarters Sales Debut
The Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray quarter signifies the eleventh installment in the Mint’s four-year coin series dedicated to commemorating the achievements of American women. Released on Feb. 1, the combined roll and bag options totaled 2,010,460 quarters through their first week.
This figure represents a slower start than any of the five quarters released in 2023, with their sales debuts ranging from 2,141,420 coins for the 2023 Maria Tallchief quarter to 2,745,380 coins for the 2023 Bessie Coleman quarter. The total is higher than any of the five quarters for 2022, but this is not a fair comparison as the Mint offered fewer than 1.8 million for each of them.
2024 Native American $1 Coin Sales Debut
This year’s Native American dollar design commemorates the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924. Released on Jan. 29, options for purchasing $1 rolls, bags, and boxes of the dollars resulted in combined first-weekly sales of 1,465,875 coins. For a few recent comparisons:
- The 2023 dollar, featuring Maria Tallchief and four additional dancers in a balletic pose, opened with 1,127,325 coins sold.
- The 2022 dollar, depicting Ely S. Parker, a U.S. Army officer, engineer, and tribal diplomat, began with sales of 1,690,425.
- The 2021 dollar honors the service of American Indians in the U.S. military and debuted with sales totaling 1,208,400 coins.
2024 Illinois Innovation Dollar Sales
On Jan. 25, the U.S. Mint released American Innovation dollars for Illinois, offered in options of 25-coin rolls and 100-coin bags priced at $34.50 and $117.50, respectively. These products logged opening four-day sales of a combined 801,250 coins. This figure exceeds the sales starts of all but one of the four Innovations dollars released in 2023.
That said, during its first full week of sales through Feb. 4, the total retreated by 18,350 to 782,900 coins. While sales of the 25-coin rolls of the Illinois dollars advanced by a combined 418 units, the pair of 100-coin bag options saw a decrease of 288 units.
2024-W Proof American Silver Eagle Sales
Released on Jan. 16 in three options — by itself, in 40-coin packs for authorized bulk buyers, and as a part of the 2024 Congratulations Set — the 2024-W Proof American Silver Eagle reached combined sales of 307,722 coins, marking a 26.8% drop from last year’s coin, which registered early reported sales of 420,199 coins.
For the record, sales from Jan. 16 through Jan. 21 for the 2024-W Proof Silver Eagle included:
- 246,588 coins for the standalone option (product code 24EA),
- 47,240 coins for the 40-coin bulk option (24EA040) with 1,181 units sold, and
- 13,894 coins as a part of the Congratulations Set (product code 24RF).
Flash forward a week from there, from Jan. 22 through Jan. 28, sales of the proof Silver Eagle across the three products rose by a combined 15,073 coins, bringing the new total to 322,795 coins.
For the latest week of data, from Jan. 29 through Feb. 4, sales for the proof coin moved backwards, dropping by 22,579 coins to 300,216. While sales increased during the week for the bulk option (52 units for 2,080 coins) and the Congratulations Set (658 coins), the standalone option’s total dropped by 25,317 coins.

In its latest report, the U.S. Mint published sales data for 420 numismatic products.
The data revealed that 69 products outperformed their sales from the previous week, compared to 77 in the prior report.
Twelve products experienced negative weekly sales compared to the seven in the previous report. In addition to the already mentioned proof Silver Eagle, two other products had significant declines, the 2023 Proof Set fell by 1,393 and the 2023 American Innovation Dollar Proof Set dropped by 708.
