US Mint Images for 2011 Medal of Honor Coins Released
Full-color images of the 2011 Medal of Honor Commemorative Coins have been published by the US Mint in preparation for the scheduled February 25, 2011, release.

PCGS Certifies One of Eight Known 1795 Reeded Edge Cents
Described as "the Holy Grail of Sheldon Cents" and recently purchased by noted collector Pete Miller at public auction, a 1795 Reeded Edge Flowing Hair large cent (S-79) now has been certified PCGS G4 by Professional Coin Grading Service.

Gold Advances Modestly, Silver Prices Hit 6-Week High
U.S. gold prices rose slightly on Monday while other metals, silver and palladium specifically, soared.

Proof Buchanan’s Liberty First Spouse Gold Coin No Longer Available
The United States Mint on Tuesday, Feb. 8, pulled the proof version of Buchanan's Liberty First Spouse Gold Coin from its online store and moved it to the 'No Longer Available' area of its website.
The US Mint has a published maximum mintage of 15,000 across the proof and uncirculated 24-karat gold coins. The latest available First Spouse coin sales as of Sunday, Feb. 6, show 7,317 of the proof and 4,461 of the uncirculated were sold for a combined tally of 11,778 [...]

Following a retreat to the $1,355.00 area, gold prices picked up fresh hedge fund-sourced steam this morning and climbed to the upper $1,360's with relative ease, despite that near three-week highs recorded in the values of the US dollar against the European common currency and despite the apparent ebbing of Egyptian turmoil levels.

Gold and Silver Prices Rise for Third Straight Week
U.S. precious metals declined Friday as the U.S. dollar gained ground and after news that Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak resigned cut into safe-haven gold demand. However, the yellow metal still gained on the week, capping a string of three weekly increases.

US Mint circulating coin production shot higher in January 2011, eclipsing the levels from December and those from the same period of a year ago.

Royal Australian Navy 100 Years Commemorative Coin Released
The Perth Mint boarded HMAS Perth to launch Australia's precious metal silver coin tribute to mark 100 Years of the Royal Australian Navy.
In 1 March 1901, two months after Federation, responsibility for the former colonies' naval forces passed from Britain's rule to the new Commonwealth Government.
