Fine Gold BarsU.S. gold and silver prices extended losses as the metals pulled back 3.0 percent and 0.6 percent, respectively. Gold, after touching an intraday record high of $1,923.70 on Tuesday, reached as low as $1,793.80 an ounce on Wednesday, marking a $129 swing in prices.

2011 American Gold Eagle Bullion CoinDemand surged for American Gold Eagle Bullion Coins in August 2011. The Eagles' sales pace was the quickest since January, superior to the same period last year and more than doubled the level from July.

United States Mint authorized purchasers ordered 112,000 ounces of bullion Gold Eagles last month, making it the third best August ever for the series which debuted in 1986.

Available from the Mint in four sizes and in terms of the number of gold coins sold, the 22-karat bullion coins were split with sales of 103,500 for the one ounce [...]

Fine Gold BarsU.S. gold prices settled modestly lower Tuesday after surging early to a new record on worries over euro zone debt and the weak U.S. economy.

"Given that gold has recently undergone a correction, followed by a decent consolidation and particularly as European sovereign concerns escalate once again, we feel the ingredients are in place for another impressive gold rally," Edel Tully, a London-based analyst at UBS AG, wrote in a report that was cited on Bloomberg. "The recent correction in gold gives investors confidence that a future rally will have a solid foundation."
