Rare 1792 Fusible Alloy Cent Offered in Heritage’s U.S. Coin &...
An important 1792 Fusible Alloy Cent, Judd-2, Pollock-2, Low R.7, Fine 15 NGC, CAC, one of the great rarities of early American numismatics will cross the auction block on Aug. 11 as part of Heritage Auctions Chicago Signature® U.S. Coin & Platinum Night Auction.
"Less than 10 of these great rarities are known to exist," said Greg Rohan, President of Heritage. "When one comes on the market it constitutes a real numismatic event and we expect collectors will respond accordingly when it comes time to bid."

Grand Canyon 5 Oz Silver Coin Variety Recognized by NGC
The first variety in the America the Beautiful five ounce silver coin series has been discovered and will now be recognized by NGC.
The variety, designated "Light Finish" by NGC, is so far seen only on the 2010-P Grand Canyon Specimen issues.
The U.S. Mint strikes two types of five ounce silver America the Beautiful coins: the bullion version and the collector version. The collector version is vapor-blasted to create a matte finish, a stark contrast to the brilliant surfaces of the bullion issues.

Gold Dips from Record Rally, Silver Prices Ease Slightly
U.S. gold futures edged modestly lower Tuesday, snapping a string of five straight record days and ten consecutive session rallies. Profit-taking and a bipartisan Senate plan to cut $3.7 trillion in U.S. debt were factors cited in weakening gold's safe-haven demand.

US Mint Expected to Increase Prices on Gold Coins and Platinum...
The United States Mint on Wednesday is expected to raise prices on its collector American Platinum Eagle and its numismatic gold coins, including all types of American Gold Eagles, the American Gold Buffalo and each of the uncirculated and proof First Spouse Gold Coins.

Gold Prices Hit Record Above $1,600, Silver Tops $40
U.S. gold prices surged to a fresh record on Monday, its fifth straight, as U.S. and European debt concerns dominated the news. The yellow metal closed above $1,600 an ounce, extending its consecutive string of gains to ten sessions.

US Mint Announces Vicksburg and Chickasaw Quarter Launch Ceremony Dates
The United States Mint has announced the launch ceremony dates for the fourth and fifth 2011 America the Beautiful Quarters®. The US Mint has also indicated that it will host coin forums during the evenings prior to each of the ceremonies.
The Mint will conduct the 2011 Vicksburg National Military Park Quarter ceremony on Tuesday, August 30 and the 2011 Chickasaw National Recreation Area Quarter ceremony on Wednesday, November 16. The new trading week commenced with -- what else -- additional gains in already overheated metals markets. Falling oil and rising dollar values had little impact on opening bids in gold and the rest of the precious metals' complex.
Today's momentum was all about... momentum. New highs in gold came in at $1,604 overnight and the metal is still possibly poised for the $1,615 - $1,630 "overshoot" being alluded to in Friday's late afternoon EW update.
Ten consecutive sessions of gains in the yellow metal (from the July 1st low at $1,478.00) have yielded a market replete with 95% stampeding bulls (only 3% shy of the previous extreme around May 1st) and all of them are shaking the market's floor in expectations of debt doomsday. 2011 Proof Silver Eagle Order Limits Removed
The United States Mint released the 2011 Proof American Silver Eagle coin on June 30 for $59.95. Effective Friday at noon (ET), the United States Mint removed their order limits. As has been tradition, the coins have launched over the years with initial order limits that help get them into as many buyers' hands as possible.
The 2011 Proof Silver Eagle had a rather generous limit of 100, meaning up to 100 of the .999 fine silver coins could be purchased per household. As such, removing the order limits should only affect buyers like dealers who resell the Eagles [...]
Gold Closes Week at Record, Silver Prices Jump 6.9%
U.S. gold futures rose modestly Friday, capping nine straight session gains and closing the week with four consecutive daily records. Gold gained $48.50, or 3.1 percent, this week as worries over U.S. and European nation debt issues intensified.
