Gold Drops 1.8%, Silver Falls 0.7%
Gold declined 1.8 percent Thursday, moving opposite of U.S. stocks and other riskier bets, and falling the most in three weeks.
"Gold continues to conform to money market swings in which demand for riskier assets sometimes includes gold, and sometimes not," MarketWatch quoted Richard Hastings, a macro strategist at Global Hunter Securities. "And if the demand for stocks requires fewer new positions in spot gold, then gold declines on these trading days -- like today."

Santa Clara Coin, Stamp & Collectibles Expo Ends After November Show
The last scheduled Santa Clara Coin, Stamp & Collectibles Expo will be the upcoming show, November 18 - 20, 2011. Future dates for the twice-yearly Northern California show, including the previously planned March 16 - 18, 2012 show, are being canceled by the Santa Clara Expo's owner, Collectors Universe, Inc. (NASDAQ: CLCT).
The Long Beach Expo, also owned by Collectors Universe, is not affected by the Santa Clara show closing. The next Long Beach Expo is scheduled for February 2 - 4, 2012 [...]
US Mint October 2011 Coin Production: Quarters Surge, Pennies Top 4...
Fewer coins were minted for circulation in October, the latest coin production figures from the United States Mint reveal. In keeping with past months, Lincoln cents kept Mint presses busiest. Pennies hurdled over the 4 billion milestone this year.
Also of note, while the Mint is yet to call finalized mintages for Garfield Presidential $1 coins, it would appear they are at -- or are very close to -- a stopping point. More interesting, unless the United States Mint is producing extra quarters with older designs, the upcoming release of the Chickasaw National Recreation Area Quarter will easily sport the highest mintages of any America the Beautiful Quarter [...]

Wednesday's 1.5 percent US dollar rally pushed commodities sharply lower and while gold initially resisted the trend, by the session's end it too fell victim to the across-the-board selling of assets that intensified right along with the crisis in Europe. Overnight lows in gold came in at near the $1,750 mark whilst silver dropped fairly close to the $33 level.

Gold, Silver Retreat; Bullion Silver Eagles Top 37M
Gold dipped for the first time in three days Wednesday as the U.S. dollar surged amid turmoil in world stocks as fears escalated over Europe's debt crisis. Those fears were said to limit losses in gold, despite gains in the greenback.
"Gold prices are likely to reflect the degree of trust and confidence that investors have in the authorities to solve the (European debt) crisis," said HSBC metals analyst James Steel, according to Reuters.

Buyers have less than a week to purchase directly from the U.S. Mint bags and rolls of Mount Hood National Forest Quarters. In keeping with its last chance announcement, the Mint will permanently pull the coins from store shelves on Tuesday, November 15, at 12:00 noon ET.
Bags and rolls of Mount Hood Quarters first went on sale November 15, 2010 when they were released into circulation. Two-roll sets were released at $32.95 while bags were listed for $35.95. American Silver Eagle 25th Anniversary Sets started arriving at buyer's doorsteps Wednesday. The sets, which commemorate the 1986 introduction and resulting anniversary of the American Silver Eagle, sold out in under five hours -- all 100,000 of them.

The latest sales figures from the United States Mint are here. While the buzz in the numismatic community continues to key on American Silver Eagle 25th Anniversary Sets which have started shipping, collector's spent their dollars on always-popular and less expensive United States Mint offerings, like annual sets and individual American Silver Eagles.
Often leading sales, 2011-W Proof Silver Eagles came in second place with 17,701 scooped up versus the previous 22,110 weekly gain. That brought their individual total to 823,598. 2011-W Uncirculated Silver Eagles rang the bell as the fifth best seller, rising 4,767 to 187,810. Gold Touches $1,800 while Silver Prices Advance 0.9%
Gold prices advanced with a high above $1,800 an ounce on Tuesday, although the yellow metal later gave back a portion of its gain and missed the milestone by 80 cents. A weaker U.S. dollar and continued worries over Europe's debt crisis supported higher prices, opined analysts.
"Today's focus is the lack of real resolution to the issues in the euro zone and the concerns of the Italian debt crisis. For the short term, gold looks like it is going to break over the psychological resistance of $1,800," Reuters quoted said Miguel Perez-Santalla, vice president at Hereaus Precious Metals Management.
