US Mint Sales: Numismatic Silver Coins Stunted by Suspensions
Sales levels were depressed for all but one of the collector silver coins suspended by the United States Mint for re-pricing. On the flip side, demand improved for the bureau's numismatic gold coins.
Last Wednesday, October 3, the U.S. Mint stopped selling its numismatic silver coins because silver had traded in a range of $30.00 to $35.00 per ounce since August 23, 2012.

American coin production rose sharply in September 2012 as the United States Mint struck a great deal more pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters -- the quarters are of the new design depicting Denali National Park in Alaska and have yet to be issued.

Gold and Silver Slip for Third Session as Dollar Climbs
Gold and silver prices settled lower Tuesday, extending losing streaks to three sessions. The metals were pressured by a stronger U.S. dollar, which gained after the IMF cut its growth forecast for the world economy.
Gold for December delivery fell $10.70, or 0.6%, to $1,765.00 an ounce on the Comex in New York. Intraday prices ranged from $1,762.00 to $1,781.60.
