US Mint Sales: 2025 Innovation Dollar Set, New Quarter Ornaments Debut

Last week, the United States Mint introduced five holiday ornaments featuring quarters honoring Ida B. Wells, Juliette Gordon Low, Dr. Vera Rubin, Stacey Park Milbern, Althea Gibson, along with a proof set of $1 coins celebrating innovations in Arkansas, Michigan, Florida, and Texas. The latest U.S. Mint sales figures highlight the products’ initial performance.

Released Aug. 28 for $27.50 — up from last year’s $24 starting price — the newest Innovation dollar set led Mint numismatic product sales, posting a five-day debut of 47,145 units.

This year’s set follows six predecessors, with the previous four still available, each now priced at $27.50. Their opening and current sales are:

• Last year’s set sold 49,414 units in six days (now at 65,414)
• The 2023 set sold 49,936 units in four days (now at 61,429)
• The 2022 set sold 58,691 units in six days (now at 84,658)
• The 2021 set sold 53,115 units in four days (now at 90,725)
• The 2020 set sold 45,546 units in four days (last reported at 108,400N X)
• The 2019 set, the first in the annual line, sold 43,995 units in three days (last reported at 149,885)

Each of the new ornaments also ranked among the Mint’s best sellers of the week.

Released on Aug. 26 for $36.75 each, starting sales ranged from 868 for the Stacey Park Milbern ornament to 1,084 for the Juliette Gordon Low ornament. The other three ornaments each opened below 891, suggesting an early preference for the Juliette Gordon Low design.

For comparison, last year’s ornaments began with sales ranging from 1,352 for the Zitkala-Ša ornament to 1,759 for the Celia Cruz ornament. The 2023 ornaments started between 1,316 for the Jovita Idar ornament and 1,534 for the Eleanor Roosevelt ornament. By contrast, the 2022 quarter ornaments, which launched the product line, saw initial gains ranging from 1,768 for the Nina Otero-Warren ornament to 2,195 for the Maya Angelou ornament.

American Liberty Up, Silver Proof Set Plunges, Sacagawea Up, Superman Totals Down, Army Eagle Keeps Falling

Released on Aug. 20, the 100,000-mintage 2025-W Proof Laser Engraved American Silver Eagle became unavailable earlier this week. Still, there is no update to its sales beyond the first-day total of 59,520. The Mint has responded to our requests twice for an update, most recently on Tuesday, indicating they are working to provide accurate figures.

The 2025 American Liberty issues launched on Aug. 21, with the 12,000-mintage 2025-W $100 High Relief Gold Coin lasting for nearly 2 1/2 hours before first becoming unavailable. Its initial reported total was 7,350, and it has since climbed by 602 to 7,952. The 60,000-mintage 2025-P Silver Medal, which became unavailable the following day, was first reported at 28,888 and has now advanced by 1,030 to 29,918.

Launched on Aug. 7, the 10-coin 2025 Silver Proof Set — seven coins struck in 99.9% fine silver — recorded four-day opening sales of 120,807 units. During its first full week of availability, sales increased by 6,318 units to reach 127,125. More recently, the set was listed as "Currently Unavailable," with sales slipping by 2,166 in the prior report and by another 10,609 in the latest, bringing the total down to 114,350.

Released on July 31 and limited to 7,500 coins, the 2025-W Proof Sacagawea Gold Dollar became unavailable about eight hours after its launch. Since then, only small quantities have briefly reappeared. Four reports ago, the total edged up by 4 to 7,444; the following report showed no change. In the next update, it increased by 47 to 7,491, while the latest report shows a slight decline of 5 to 7,486.

The U.S. Mint’s Superman-themed gold coin and silver medals debuted on July 24, with the first four days of presales showing the least expensive medal leading at 30,228 units, followed by the 2.5-ounce version at 11,764, and then the gold coin at 6,146.

Recent weekly movement for the Superman-themed products shows:

• Week ending Aug. 10: gold coin down 221, 2.5-ounce silver medal up 163, 1-ounce silver medal down 14,229
• Week ending Aug. 17: gold coin slipped another 44, 2.5-ounce medal advanced 255, 1-ounce medal edged up 30
• Week ending Aug. 24: gold coin rebounded by 140, 2.5-ounce medal climbed 464, 1-ounce medal rose 388
• Week ending Sept. 1: gold coin down 25, 2.5-ounce medal declined 171, 1-ounce medal dropping 1,272

Current totals now stand at 5,795 for the gold coin, 12,474 for the 2.5-ounce silver medal, and 14,928 for the 1-ounce silver medal.

In the latest data, the no-longer-available privy-marked 250th Anniversary Army 2025-W Proof American Silver Eagle slipped by another 326 to 98,055. This marks the fourth straight weekly reduction, following earlier decreases of 1,119, 2,689, and 2,296. Its official mintage is 100,000.

In its latest report, the Mint published sales data for 591 numismatic products. Three products saw week-over-week gains of more than 1,000 units, compared to 4 previously.

U.S. Mint sales momentum edged higher last week, with 109 products surpassing their previous gains. As noted, this total reflects one additional day of reporting due to the Labor Day holiday on Monday, putting it above the prior week’s 101 and in line with recent weekly increases of 94, 90, 110, 85, 103, 105, 89, 120, 98, and 93.

In addition, 14 products registered weekly sales declines, compared to 9 in last week’s report. Aside from the two products already mentioned, the remaining declines were minimal, with each down by just a single unit.
