Precious Metals Steady on Wednesday, Nov. 16

Precious metals hardly changed Wednesday as both gains and losses among them were less than a half percent for all but platinum, which slipped 0.6%.

Gold for December shed $1, or 0.06%, to settle at $1,775.80 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Gold futures traded between $1,773.40 and $1,788.20. They dipped 0.01% on Tuesday and they rose 0.4% on Monday, for their highest finish since Aug. 16.

Silver for December delivery rose less than a cent, or 0.03%, to settle at $21.524 an ounce. Silver futures traded between $21.45 and $22.16. They dropped 2.7% on Tuesday and they gained 2.1% on Monday, for their best settlement since June. 2.

In PGM futures on Wednesday:

  • January platinum declined $6.20 to $1,016.20 an ounce, ranging from $1,011.50 to $1,034.40.

  • Palladium for December delivery added $3, or 0.1%, to $2,081.30 an ounce, trading between $2,018 and $2,113.
