Three U.S. Mint products made their first appearances on the sales tracking tables this week. They include the Martin Van Buren Presidential Silver Medal, the 2021-W Proof American Platinum Eagle, and the 2020-S Reverse Proof Innovation dollar for South Carolina.
At $11.95, the Innovation dollar was the least expensive of them and it also sold the most, registering seven-day starting sales of 27,339.
The immediate previous reverse proof honors innovation in Maryland. It kicked off with five-day sales of 27,243. The dollar before that, for Massachusetts, logged sales of 26,897 during its first seven days. The first 2020 dollar, for Connecticut, posted six-day sales of 24,737.
Priced at $65, collectors scooped up a 9,701 Martin Van Buren Presidential Silver Medals in seven days. The previous medal was released in February 2020 for $46. Depicting Andrew Jackson, it tallied sales of 9,030 in six days.
The most expensive product launching last week was the 2021-W Proof Platinum Eagle at $1,645. It reached sales of 4,961 through four days. By comparison, last year’s edition opened at $1,545 and recorded four-day sales of 3,925. Both coins are still available, as are the issues from 2018 and 2019. Their prices went up today to $1,695 apiece. (Platinum traded Wednesday at a six-year high.)

In its latest report, the U.S. Mint published sales data for 243 numismatic products. One hundred and one of them outperformed their prior weekly gains compared to 64 previously. Not counting the new products so as to compare apples to apples, 5 products increased by more than 1,000 units against none in the prior report.
In addition, 26 products saw their sales reduced against 32 previously. The reductions ranged from 1 to 213, with the latter tagged to the 2020 Mint Set.
