Australian bullion sales surged in September, with The Perth Mint recording its highest monthly demand for gold and silver since April. Year to date, gold sales are running ahead of 2024’s pace, while silver continues to trail well behind.
The Mint’s sales unfolded amid another month of sharp gains in precious metal prices. According to LBMA data in U.S. dollars, gold advanced 11.6%, or $396.70, to $3,825.85 per ounce, while silver jumped 19%, or $7.38, to $46.18.
The Perth Mint’s General Manager of Minted Products, Neil Vance, said the new Australian Lunar Series Year of the Horse coins helped boost September’s performance.
"Our designer Ing Ing Jong’s majestic horse designs have proved hugely popular with our collectors who always love her work," Neil said. "So I’m not surprised we’re seeing those coins sell so well.
"And we’re also seeing very strong demand out of the US for our minted bars which has further boosted this result."
Perth Mint Gold Bullion Sales in September 2025
The Perth Mint reported gold bullion sales of 36,595 ounces in September, up 21.5% from August but 31.1% lower than in September 2024.
For the year to date, gold sales have reached 277,658 ounces, reflecting a 2.2% increase over the 271,808 ounces recorded during the same period last year.
Perth Mint Silver Bullion Sales in September 2025
Following four straight months of slowing sales, silver bullion sales climbed to 578,588 ounces in September — up 36.2% from August but 39.9% below the level from a year earlier.
For the first nine months of 2025, silver sales have totaled 4,750,946 ounces, representing a 33.7% decline from the 7,160,518 ounces recorded during the same period in 2024.
