U.S. Mint October Lineup: Navy Eagle, Althea Gibson Quarters, and Ornaments

34

October is one of the slowest months of the year for U.S. Mint product releases, with just three days scheduled for new launches. However, it’s also one of the more anticipated months, as offerings include a unique privy-marked coin honoring the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Navy. The month also marks the conclusion of two long-running series.

U.S. Mint October Products for release
Products scheduled for October release by the U.S. Mint

Products include the limited-edition 250th Anniversary U.S. Navy 2025-W Proof American Silver Eagle, rolls and bags of the Althea Gibson quarter, and two Christmas-themed ornaments — with the latter two serving as the Mint’s final entries in their respective lines. The quarter closes out the four-year, 20-coin American Women quarter dollar series, which celebrates the accomplishments and contributions of notable women.

As for the ornaments, the Mint notes for each:

"No further releases scheduled for this product beyond 2025 as we create new numismatic products to enhance your collection."

The month’s lineup features coins in three finishes. The proof Silver Eagle will showcase sharp detail with frosted design elements against mirror-like fields. The two ornaments will each include a 2025 Jefferson nickel in uncirculated quality, while the Althea Gibson quarters will be in circulating quality.

The table below outlines October’s U.S. Mint product launches, along with announced mintages and sales of prior issues through Sept. 28.

“Gold opened in Sydney with a spike to $3,893
@ Cag – we going to $3,950 this week? (Prior to a USG budget resolution?)”

In live U.S. 24×5 trading, GLD is indicating we are currently trading in the $3,910.00-$3,920.00 range.

Resolving a shutdown should help the dollar and hurt Gold, however, that’s just one factor contributing to Gold’s momentum…

Pertaining to GLD, there is Currently a Bid @ $360.34 and an Ask of $360.44

Speaking of Gold’s momentum …
the Financial Times is calling it “Gold-plated Fomo”

cagcrisp

Rich,
Financial Times has a bad habit of calling some upward moves a “FOMO” move in their articles.

Rick said a few threads back: “$3030, dang, I was going to get another Batman, sigh…” That’s only a $40 bump on a $2,990 coin, just 1.3% more and although pricey, I wonder if you pulled the trigger? I ask, as we are poised to jump, 2 more price levels Wednesday and an outside chance of moving 3 tiers. Pretty cool being able to grab a 2025 American Liberty Gold at $4,265, when we are looking at the price from the Mint jumping to $4,815 on Wednesday. There are 721 still available at 11:30pm ET. Also, nutty seeing the jump… Read more »

That new batch of the 2025 American Liberty Gold is down to ats=614 at Monday 10/6 at 208AM EDT. It is sure moving slowly from your report of 1028 a few days ago.

CaliSkier

VinnieC, since my report of 1,028 coins on 10/2 at 8:15am, indeed these are moving slow as compared to the batch that came back to market on 9/26. With those(26th), I’m not sure how many hit the market at 7:30(?), however at 4pm on that day there were 1,703 available and by 5:20pm on 9/30, they were gone. I suspect, as Rick noted in his response to my wonderment of whether he’d pulled the trigger on another Batman coin, with another 2-3 pricing range table tier bump looming on Wednesday, the psychology of currently dropping $4,715 on 1oz of gold,… Read more »

Rick

No, I didn’t get another Batman Gold and I’m on the fence for another. My hope is to get a 70-grade coin which is primary. A 2nd would increase the chance for a 70 and a potential small profit later, which is secondary.
I know it’s ‘only’ a $40 bump, but the psychology of $3k for the 1/2 oz coin messes with the mind. Especially when I recall paying $600 for graded Jefferson Liberty’s, sigh…
Another Batman 2.5 Silver, yes – sigh again.

I hear what you’re saying Rick and completely understand how that messes with your mind. The premiums on the DC Comic coins is pretty crazy and a major gamble if one needs to sell. Not taking a loss on selling when the time comes, is quite hard to fathom. I’m for sure struggling to see when, if ever, secondary market collectors will be willing to drop $4,000-$4,500 on a raw one of these, until gold spot hits the equivalent per ounce of $8,000-$9,000? Even then I’m not so sure? PR70 is one’s only hope, as the lower mintage should help… Read more »

Cali unfortunately the coins will have no legs and spot Au will have to save everyone, not the Green Lantern. Glad, you grabbed the Sac and Sunflower, theyre nice designs, Classic Sac only needed some edge or other Au% hallmarking.
$8k an Oz. I start selling there for sure. But, a pack of Twinkies will cost &350

Public Service Announcement – Gentlemen – you have got to stop looking at the AMPEX or Yahoo Finance gold spot price listing on their website thinking that it is now – it is not. Per APMEX website disclosed – “The gold spot price and silver spot price are computed using data from the futures contracts traded on the Comex.” So APMEX is showing you Futures pricing, not current market spot, Yahoo Finance shows Future (Dec ‘25) currently, in Nov will be January Contracts, Futures (Dec contracts) hit a high of $3,971.70 last night Current markets (now) hit a high of $3,948. “IF” any one is interested the Mint has newly posted the 1804 Dollar Gold Offering

Keep Calm & Stack On!

Thanks much! Wow, me likie likie!

Hope they release this one first…, like on 08 Jan ‘26

Craig

KCSO, Now that you said that, it’ll probably be the last coin made available next year for sale…in the Fall! That Liberty will be one to have and I won’t even mind paying the mint their ludicrous premium fee with it (at least not too much). Lol.

Rich

Craig and KCSO, The 1804 Dollar Gold coin will be the 4th release in the 2026 Best of The Mint 5-coin series, so a late-Summer or early-Fall release date is quite possible. Some analysts are now looking for this intermediate rally in gold and silver to reach a top of $4,500 Gold and $55-$60 Silver in 2026. Assuming a gold pricing of $4,500.00, based on the current USM 2025 Pricing Grid and comparable Flowing Hair 1 oz 24K Gold Proof prices, the estimated price for just the 1804 Dollar 1 oz 24K Gold coin is $5,540. So setting aside $6K… Read more »

You HOLD your tongue as well, Gentlemen!

DON’T SAY THAT! ;7

A 6-9 month variance in release dates next year will equate to $1,000 – $1,500 Buck-a-Roo’s……..

I should have just been a dude content on collecting Buckeye’s shit…

Unfortunately, I fear that it’s a matter of time before something strays off course, and gets a tad bit too close to Moscow.., and then that ‘product’ entity is made an example of.., so we’re gonna see $6,000 gold in 2026 anyway….

Cheers Mates!

HarryB

kC&SO: your predictive posts are approaching quatrain territory…..unless geopolitical events and US monetary conditions change, which I do not expect, $6k gold and $60 silver is in our future.I look forward to your posts as I do CAGs…

Tony@GA

I truly love the medal that accompanies this release – the medal designs has renewed my faith in the mint to be able to produce beautiful and timeless coins.

I’m not a medal fan but next year is a game changer for me!

John Q. Coinage

Gold hasn’t really been prodded by geopolitical events. Iran bombing, Ukrainian war, Gaza all factored in but not a lot of the price push, yet. Straights of Hormuz issues, etc. Silver depends on mfg. value and Chinese industrial use can be used as a counter weight.
on the 1804@ the likely price getting shit out of luck won’t hurt…. CU 2 m

CaliSkier

Thanks for the heads up Numismatrix! Out of all the associated Silver Medals I like this one the best. I still do not understand why the designer/sculptors find that their initials need to be so prominently displayed, both size and location wise? Just a tad smaller and on the obverse tucked to the left of the 4th star up, counterclockwise from the 6 in 2026, at 4:00 tucked between the flowing hair strands. On the reverse, the initials could have been discreetly placed in the clouds, which would have been better IMO. PS Also, what is going on with her… Read more »

It’s “capped bust” with “”flowing hair”” – – – syncretic allegories

CaliSkier

Still makes me go hmmm? Also, kind of appears like a head band(maybe ribbon?) combined with a kippah/scull cap as well? With her hair lapping over above a headband between the skull cap. Just looks a bit odd, as all the capped bust examples I’ve seen, her hair doesn’t appear to escape between “Liberty” and the rest of the cap? Just hair or details below the cap and the Liberty inscription. I feel as if the artist couldn’t quite decide to do hair, a cap, crown, ribbon or what, since some form or fashion had been previously used by other… Read more »

I just received my email from the Mint about the 1804 Gold Dollar. Looks nice. I hope those of you who can afford it will enjoy it in your collection.

I’ve already set aside $6k for one! That is going to be one nice coin to have in my safe!

Random Pointless Thought..,

25DSG –

On the assumption that the 25DSG OGP is the issue in the delayed ship..,

I wonder if the USG shut down would/will impact the OGP review cycle, logistics coordination, or product acceptance, from the OGP vendor….

If that were to be the case…, Oh!

And in that case… we should get a 10% credit towards our purchase of a future 25DxG product…. Yeah right…
