The United States Mint last week launched the 2025-W $100 American Liberty High Relief Gold Coin, the 2025-P American Liberty Silver Medal, and the 2025-W Proof Laser Engraved American Silver Eagle. Sales figures show totals for the American Liberty products through Aug. 24, though both were unavailable well before that date.

As for the 100,000-mintage 2025-W Proof Laser Engraved American Silver Eagle, released on Aug. 20 and still available for $105, cumulative sales through the 24th have not yet been reported. The Mint did confirm, however, that first-day sales reached 59,520, with updated totals to follow.
Returning to the American Liberty products, which launched on Aug. 21, the 12,000-mintage gold coin lasted for nearly 2 1/2 hours before first becoming unavailable. Its total through the 24th is listed at 7,350. The 60,000-mintage silver medal, meanwhile, became unavailable the following day, with sales through the 24th reported at 28,888. Both products should see more short windows of availability as additional quantities are offered again.

Why? Why not? I completely understand the 2025 American Silver Eagle with Army Privy coin being released on June 13, a Friday, 1 day prior to its actual 250th Anniversary/Birthday. The Army was established June 14, 1775, that happened to fall on a Saturday this year. So, why did the U.S. Mint decide to release the 2025 American Silver Eagle with Navy Privy coin on October 10, a Friday, 3 days prior to its actual 250th Anniversary/Birthday? The Continental Navy was established on October 13, 1775. In 1972, Admiral Elmo Zumwalt declared October 13 as the official birthday of the… Read more »
Looks like the last nine releases are set for me (unless, of course, they change):
September 4 – Palladium Reverse Proof Eagle
September 11 – Morgan Silver Dollar (subscription)
September 11 – Peace Silver Dollar (subscription)
September 23 – American Silver Eagle (S) (subscription)
September 25 – Batman One-Half Ounce 24K Gold
October 10 – American Silver Eagle Navy Privy
November 10 – American Silver Eagle Marine Corps Privy
November 13 – Wonder Woman One-Half Ounce 24K Gold
November 25 – Morgan & Peace Reverse Proof Set (subscription)
REB, I realize that they were not proofs, however did you buy those 2 1/2oz Military Medals? The last medal in that series has been in a virtual eternal limbo! Janet Yellen, signed off on and gave the U.S. Mint permission to produce the Space Force medal way back in August of 2021. I think part of the reason for the delay has been the lack of submission for review, to the CCAC and CFA, any designs? This is a slam dunk, no brainer, so I truly wonder what the hang up is? Paul Gilkes did a Coin World article… Read more »
Captain on the bridge!
Cali – Monday October 13 is a federal holiday so I’d guess the lights are off at the mint that day for the navy privy release. Same with the Saturday anniversary on the army privy. If they had done the privy Eagles next year it would have been the slightly different. The army June 14, 2026, is a Sunday, so Monday release. The October 13 and November 10 dates are both Tuesdays and not holidays so someone would turn the lights on at the mint those days.
I guess the Mint isn’t ignorant, incompetent, or arbitrarily picking random release dates from out of thin air afterall.
Does PFSweb observe federal holidays?
I’ll say yes since Mr Google says it’s a big fulfilment and logistics provider.
If you’re referring to something else you’ll need to be very specific as to what you’re referring to.
PFSWeb in the capacity as the E-Commerce and fulfillment contractor for the US Mint. I’ve never gotten all the federal holidays off working for a private company…typically just New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. The USPS, banks and schools do seem to observe most federal holidays. The E-Store site seems to be open 24/7, however on product release days it might be wise to have some humans around and maybe some help from Cloudflare humans too.
I see no new products being released on any upcoming Federal Holidays, and I’m not too worried about the ability to place an order online on a holiday.
Since one or two FHG was successfully ordered last New Years Day at 7:30 ET, well after the sellout, you know where I’ll be on Labor Day – 2025.
On May 16, 1960 Theodore Maiman fired off has ruby laser at Hughes Laboratories in Malibu, CA. On July 7, 1960 he held a press conference. On August 6, 1960 he published his results in Nature Magazine. I’m not sure if the US Mint had the 65th anniversary of the laser in mind when they released the laser privy ASE
Phasers set to stun.
Newmont Mining (NEM), largest Gold miner in the world, is preparing to lay off thousands of employees to reduce costs.
Newmont has AISC (All-in-Sustained Costs) costs of $1,593.00/oz. for Gold.
The goal for Newmont is to reduce AISC by $300.00/oz.
Just how much has AISC gone up for Newmont in the past few years?
On November 5, 2019, I posted AISC for Newmont = $987.00/oz. for Gold.
On May 5, 2020, I posted AISC for Newmont = $1030.00/oz. for Gold.
Today I posted AISC for Newmont = $1593.00/oz. for Gold.
Thanks Cag, interesting stats. I’ve held onto their stock it’s been ok so far…. My current ASIC f $3,400 ish for Au is excessive…..
Logo changes, such as the recent mulligan for Cracker Barrel, appear to be trending today.
CNBC is scheduled to be spun off from Comcast later this year. Yesterday, I reviewed five proposed logo designs for CNBC. Of these options, two met my criteria while three did not. My top preference was a single Bull logo, followed by a Bull/Bear combination. However, I found the Bear figure disproportionately large relative to the Bull. Given my general market preferences, I believe the Bull should be more prominent than the Bear in the design.
We will see IF others agree…
So far, the market is bullish.
I see that Magic Mike is selling the 2025 Proof ASE w/ Laser privy in Advanced Release label for a mere $699.99. Can’t you just say $700 and be done with it! Is that ‘special’ label worth $590?
If anyone wants a Sunflower Liberty in PR70 with an Advanced Release label, Magic Mike has a few for $7000. I’m redoing my kitchen or I’d have bought at least one!
This Advanced Release label is just another gimmick used by Magic Mike to appear as exclusive and make obscene profits. I have watched his shtick (just for laughs) over the years. Most of his coin offers can be found on ebay for a little over half the price. On his TV HSN shows, he claims hundreds, sometimes thousands of coins for sale as “opportunities,” “sold out,” and many other pressure tactics to induce the ignorant to get on the phone and order. He is smug and shameless………..and rich.
Still laser is available @USM, CHEEP
And no Sacagawea. $700 you’re buried next to Julius Ceaser
The Rick Springfield Auction is currently under way (10:47 PT 8/27/2025). Looks like some of his coins have sold.
https://auctions.stacksbowers.com/auctions/3-1KIBKW/summer-2025-global-showcase-auction-session-4-the-rick-springfield-collection-lots-2001-2036
Ok, The Party is over. Everything sold. The 1907 High Relief Saint Gaudens hammered at $384K.
Cheers
Looks like the heroes were this^, the Stella and the 1825 Quarter Eagle. I was watching the 1795 Eagle. I considered bidding on a couple of the lesser coins just to say I owned a Rick Springfield coin. But, ultimately, sanity prevailed and I walked away.
So what do you say, E1? Did the results disappoint, meet expectations, or exceed expectations? I am not terribly knowledgeable about many of the coins auctioned, but I thought the auction might net more for Mr. Springfiled.
REB,
I think the Everest Graded coins did pretty well. I was expecting more from the 1907 High Relief Saint Gaudens. The 1879 Proof 4$ Gold Stella did pretty well. JQC, what would you say?
I think JQC is busy today.
I’d say over my limit, and wow anyway. I’m a coil hair but any would be cool. Maybe if the Mint dropped those SLQ redeux (3x to kill AI spCheck I no better) anyway thought $200ish. Nice coin duhh, not a Cameo. I was offered a Pf63 YEARS ago for $65k…..
Too bad the mint ignored this gem for their tribute coins… Mercury, Walkers, narcalepsy
You’re right. They would be great. Sell out quickly and offer a decent return. Out of my league though. I’ve always thought of them as patterns. Now if the Mint decided to offer Amazons, those would be a head turner.
JQC,
Personally, I think these modern tribute coins are stealing the Big-Big-Big money away from the classic coin market. But who am I? I’m just an old cheap seat collector that’s been around for over half a century. In ten years, I will have lost my marbles or I’ll be in an Urn. Till then, I will continue to pick up the most beautiful pre-70’s ultra cameo silver proof halves that I can possibly find.
Cheers
Sounds like a good, workable plan. <cue “Why Worry” by Dire Straits>
E1, agree those privy FHG were not cheap. I keep up with pre 33 Au, CC if lucky, also, still grab a light friction Au 58s, harder and harder to locate. I too am seeing an eventual expiration date. I am liquidating but never sell Au lest a new high, $4k approaching……only real set need, a nice 21d Walker, tuff to find for a decent price. Coin On
Maybe someday I can trade my Walkers in for a walker.
Cheers
Thats funny!
lol.
Overall, I overbid by $217,300. I’d originally guesstimated a grand total of $3,554,500, once including coin 36 which Rick noted I’d missed, versus today’s grand total hammer price of $3,337,200. My closest bid was for Lot 2003 1880 Gold Dollar. MS-68 (PCGS), just $300 away from the exact bid, however my largest overbid was off by a whopping $129K for Lot 2005 1806/4 Capped Bust Right Quarter Eagle. BD-1. Rarity-4+. Stars 8×5. MS-64 (NGC). My biggest underbid was $98K for Lot 2035 MCMVII (1907) Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle. High Relief. Flat Rim. MS-67+ (PCGS). So without being a collector and having… Read more »
Really good job, Cali. I think Mr. Springfield owes you tickets and backstage passes to all the stops on his next concert tour.

Funny stuff.
Love it. Get him to autograph it with a Silver Sharpie.

That’s an idea, with a 25 penny affixed…. Was funny to see with the timing
The 2025 American Silver Eagle with Laser Privy is moving in reverse. On 8/24 at 8:37am, there were 13,861. Today at 1:15pm, there were 16,304. BTW, yesterday morning there were 16, 2025 American Liberty Gold coins up for grabs and 7 Sacagawea Gold coins available. They both were gone, literally within seconds of becoming available. I don’t know how you can possibly place an order within a 5-10 second window? On another note, I’ve read of multiple customers, that apparently had their confirmed orders for American Liberty product(gold and silver), cancelled by the U.S. Mint, through what appears on the… Read more »
Cali, I think you have previously commented on the mintage and product limit figures for the 2023, 2024 and 2025 Morgan and Peace Proof silver dollars, 2025-S Morgan Proof: mintage & product limit = 180,000 2025-S Peace Proof: mintage & product limit = 170,000 2024-S Morgan Proof: mintage limit = none & product limit = 300,000 2024-S Peace Proof: mintage limit = none & product limit = 300,000 2023-S Morgan Proof: mintage & product limit = 400,000 2023-S Peace Proof: mintage & product limit = 400,000 What is the rational for the 2025-S Peace limits being 10,000 less than the… Read more »

It was REMIND Feature, AI corrected me. Can’t figure out how to turn it off!!! I typed marcalepsy for narcalepsy left alone! WTF
John Q, are you using an IPhone by chance? If so go to settings, then General, then Keyboard. Then turn off auto correction and possibly predictive text? Maybe that will improve the crazy AI interactions? Then again, maybe not…. For me, sometimes when typing, my thumb or finger will errantly go just above the top row of letters and a predictive text word will replace a word I was typing or trying to type. Good luck!
iPad….i looked and looked reset for 3rd x…….thanks!!! Predictive aloha I hope , such ridiculousness
Finally got to it & shut it off…. So far so gooood. Thanks!,, crazy revenge o the bots
Your welcome! 🙂
Thank YOU!
I really like the first auctioneer in the Rarities Night auction. I like his technique with the hammer. He waves it, then taps it down. Cracks me up every time.
Rick:
I hope you’re catching some of this Morgan action at Stack’s Bowers. Unbelievable prices on some of these rarities. $720,000 (!!!!!) for a 1901 MS-66.
Cag,
If one looks at any long term stock chart for the USA, they would have to agree that the logo for CNBC should be a BIG bull. If they had to include a bear, it would only be appropriate if it were a tiny baby bear nipping at the bull’s feet.
The bull is also very appropriate for them because of such characters as Cramer, who if full of it!

It has definitely been a very big week for coins. Numismatic Overload – Time to chill out and relax for a while.

Funny stuff is I WAS a computer student back when learned programming, FORTRAN, COBAL, etc. but the new machines AI enabled seem to know best. Biggest pisser is somehow reverts to it power to autocorrect, etc. To nad such tech is 2nd tier to mint shenanagans and shutouts, other side, very little to buy nowdays @USM…. The Three-Dollar golds have been flying – three over $300k and another four over $200k.
I’m looking forward to hearing about your $1 Gold rarity, your Commems, or the CC Morgan that you’re after!
I missed the Morgan stuff/all stuff today, but there’s another one or two auctions coming up, if I recall.
I’d like to get some DMPL & Proof Morgans going at some point along the way.
Sorry to disappoint but I bought nothing. My only real regret was not going hard at Lot #3159 (1795 Small Eagle). IF (that’s a big IF), it could have been acquired for less than $90k; this Small Eagle seems like it might have been a good deal. It ended up going for $72k. Doh! I watched #3330 (1909-O Half Eagle), but I didn’t really like the muddy look of the coin. I was surprised that #3440 (the Pan-Pac Round) didn’t go higher. That might have been a missed opportunity. But, right now I’m still focused on the first/last mint coins… Read more »
Rich asked: “What is the rational for the 2025-S Peace limits being 10,000 less than the Morgan?” Rich, although the Peace dollars have a solid following, hands down the Morgan dollar series as a whole, is more popular and has a slightly stronger following amongst collectors. This is therefore the reason IMO for a slightly higher mintage of 2025 Morgan Proofs this year versus the Peace dollars. The U.S. Mint has been watching, listening and adjusting mintages as a whole, downward this year. This was both needed and wise IMO. They have maxed collectors out, due to price increases, even… Read more »
Cali I’d say cut mintages <100k poof no leftovers and maybe better legs. IMO the modern reduex Peace is a more solid rendition than the Morgan….
I agree with the analysis here. Put me in the Peace camp. I’ve loved the design since my grandfather gave me one of the dollars when I was a kid. I still have it and cherish it.
Thanks Cali, appreciate the explanation and information, as always.

Hi CaliSkier, I would rather they just Mint to Demand so they stop guessing what demand is and instead know what demand is before they even mint them. It is only a matter of time until the Mint guesses wrong again and either I again get shut out of something I want or the Mint again gets stuck with unwanted product. The taxpayer loses out every single time they guess wrong, whether that is over or under. That should be the Mint’s top priority, right? The taxpayer? Either saving or making money. Any system other than Mint to Demand means… Read more »
Hello Jeff. Although mint to demand would hand out participation trophies to all who wanted them, in a modern age of coins that are saved by the thousands and millions, that is not what the majority of collectors want IMO. Anyhow, just to be clear the U.S. Mint is not funded through taxes and is required to be self sustaining. The U.S. Mint is funded through the Mint Public Enterprise Fund. Our purchases of U.S. Mint products that are in excess of needed funding to continue Mint operations are actually paid into the U.S. Governments General Fund. So instead of… Read more »
Hi CaliSkier, I am not participating in an event, I am simply spending my money with the Mint. The Mint should not be pleased to be leaving my or anyone else’s money on the table, which is what is happening now and has been happening for years. I get that some of the decline in sales year over year is due to the decline in the use of physical money, but how much was due to frustration with the Mint? I have seen multiple comments here over the years saying someone was giving up on the Mint because they got… Read more »
“I happen to be a taxpayer that is funding the Mint directly, and have multiple times per year since 2008.”
No matter the spin, parsing, US Code, and the endless semantics’ attempts with regard to how the Mint is funded – in the end, it’s the taxpayer who funds the Mint, no one else. The Mint is not self sustaining. Perhaps it was self funded at one time, not anymore (an opinion).
I have endorsed & supported Mint to Demand in the past and I likely will for the foreseeable future.
Hey REB,
Just want to say hi now. No need to reply. I know you support Mint to Demand already, and collect OGP as I do too. Thanks for all your contributions here. Thanks for speaking up here when necessary, too.
Harmony Gold, South Africa’s largest Gold miner, reported Today AISC of $1,806.00/oz.
FY2024 AISC was $1,500.00/oz.
That’s a 20% Y/Y increase.
That is Not sustainable. Stock currently down 6%…
Cag: do you think self reported AISC values are actual, imputed/allocated or simply reported to reduce profits or gain? If accurate, not sustainable and portend bad news for the USD…..South Africa is the S in BRICS….
HarryB,
“do you think self reported AISC values are actual, imputed/allocated or simply reported to reduce profits or gain?”
These AISC numbers for Harmony Gold are from 6-K filings, which is the equivalent to a 10-K for United States companies, so these numbers are subject to SEC regulation.
Harmony Gold (HMY) is an American Depositary Receipt (ADR) for the U.S.
When I look at 10-K filings for Gold and Silver corporations, I look at AISC and then I look at free cash flow.
Free Cash Flow…

Today the 2025 American Innovation $1 Proof Set drops at noon. This is the best grouping released to date, with popular designs and themes! The 2024 sets LKS is at 65,051, due solely to the Alabama Saturn V Rocket $1 IMO. The 2023 AI $1 PF set shows a lower sales total of 61,313. The Laser Privy coins are still moving in a reverse or cancellation/return pattern? On 8/24 at 8:37am, there were 13,861 remaining. Fast forward to 8/27, there were 16,304 available at 1:15pm. By 10:25pm, 643 had been sold leaving 15,661 remaining. Now, today at 12:45pm, there are 16,795 in stock. BTW there were 1,305, 2025 American Innovation Proof sets sold from 12:01-1:01 EST. The sales pace has slowed consistently since the opening of sales. This is evidenced by selling just 740 sets from 12:15-1:15. Hi CaliSkier, you certainly have great information to share. I’m curious how you get continuously updated sales numbers? I know a couple years ago you could look at the page source and find out, but as far as I know that trick is gone?
Replace “25EALE” with whatever product code you are looking up. It is case sensitive. In my case I learned it from @Rick
http://usmint.gov/on/demandware.store/Sites-USM-Site/default/Product-Variation?pid=25EALE
Oh yeah then search for “ats” available to sale. Anyway the trick has been posted several times, but always gets buried in old posts. The should be a CoinNews.net FAQ.
CoinStacker, VinnieC and Rick were nice enough to share this link. Thanks again guys! Anyhow, this link(below) will take you to the coded page for the 2025 AI $1 PF Set. Scroll down just past the detailed description of the coin. Look for “ats”, which Rick surmised is “available to sell”. If you replace 25GA at the end of the link and replace with another Mint product/item number you can check those out as well. The product code when added to the tail end of the link is case sensitive. Examples are 25APM, 25EALE, 25RH. That’s the item/product numbers for… Read more »
Thank you everyone for the info. Great trick!
A week ago, Jeff commented, “the ASEs have been around a long time now, longer than any other Silver dollar coin series I can recall.” For perspective, here are the three longest US silver dollar coin series:
American Silver Eagle series (1986-2025): year-dated issues = 40
Liberty Seated Dollar series (1836-1873): year-dated issues = 36
Morgan Dollar series (1878-1921): year-dated issues = 28
Footnote:
The Modern Silver Dollar Commemorative series (1983-2025) year-dated issues = 41.
Hi Rich,
Thanks for the confirmation that the ASE series is the longest running Silver dollar series to date. I thought it might be. I am vaguely aware of the Liberty Seated dollar series, but did not know it ran for that long. I knew the Morgan’s were around for less time already. Seems like the ASE has had a long enough run to me. Time for a change.
Sharks2th, thanks for the heads up on the holiday affecting the release date of October 13, for the American Silver Eagle with Navy Privy coins!
Rick, your comment doesn’t change my feelings however, about the incompetence, crap quality control, and often arbitrary random numbers chosen in regards to U.S. Mint products and many decisions being made by them. Appreciate your $.02 though.
I’ve complained many a time on mint surveys about them releasing and shipping coins around holidays. It never fails, I have to wait an extra day to travel because the mint ships items right before a holiday.
