The United States Mint’s five-week streak of reporting near triple-digit counts of products with week-over-week gains came to an end last week. A lack of new releases to attract buyers, along with elevated totals in the preceding weeks, contributed to the slowdown. In all, 53 products outperformed their prior weekly totals – down from 89, 120, 98, 93, and 97 in the five previous weeks.
In addition, six products recorded weekly sales declines, compared to none in the previous week’s report. All four of the Dr. Vera Rubin quarter products – released June 3 – saw decreases. Three-roll sets fell by 492 units, followed by two-roll sets, down 161. Sales of 100-coin bags declined by 77 for the "D" mint mark and by 74 for the "P" version.
Sales of the 250th Anniversary Army 2025-W Proof American Silver Eagle also declined, falling by 4,119 last week. Opened for pre-sale on the 13th at noon ET, the limited-edition coin – capped at 100,000 – became unavailable after about three and a half hours. According to the Mint’s latest data, sales now stand at 74,847. That figure reflects individual sales under product code 25APM and excludes orders placed through the Mint’s bulk purchase programs. No total has been published for those channels, though the Mint has responded to CoinNews, and an update is expected soon.

Those are ridiculous return rates on the AWQ!
Can you imagine if the Mi t had not….tightened up returns! Summer Doldrums or price point has reached demand de$truction?
weaker and weaker sales, higher and higher prices, last out please put out the cat
And what about the returns/cancelled orders on the ASE-Army? Down 4,119 coins (-5.22%)? What the heck? Is that the big boys having cold feet, bad credit cards, or something else?
They’re returning any coins that aren’t PF70s.
Do they even have them yet to make that judgement? This was a PRE-order, right?
REB not sure, maybe the coins were oversold, and overbought, and the sales numbers are now settling in? Overbought by the 1 per HH rulebreakers, and oversold to the Big Boys? 75k looks to be what we have here, not 100k, we’ll see. “According to the Mint’s latest data, sales now stand at 74,847. That figure reflects individual sales under product code 25APM and excludes orders placed through the Mint’s bulk purchase programs.”(Mike Unser). Well, since 10k coins had been ordered by(6/5) and reported(6/8) prior to release day(6/13), that tells me that the Bigs had ordered those 10k coins. The… Read more »
The question remains: When is a sellout NOT a sellout?
The coin is still “currently unavailable” on the Mint’s website. Come on, Mint, let’s get these things sold out for real. And hopefully to collectors who actually collect them.
REB,
You are Not going to see a Sold Out sign hung up on the 2025 American Silver Eagle Proof Army privy coins.
The United States Mint uses the Sold Out sign very judiciously.
This is Not one of those cases…
There are ‘Mint Hawkes’ out there checking the site daily to see if the HHL changes to more than one coin. Also, they check every morning at 7:30, as well as at 12:00 to see if there is an “ats” amount available, or an “add to bag” option. Nothing going on on that front since Saturday 6/14 (the day after the release), when it was rumored that 1500 coins were available(and sold) at 12:00 pm ET. Let the mystery live on……
Rick, I agree with your estimation that “75k looks to be what we have here, not 100k, we’ll see.” There may be some parallels here with the 2024 FHS Medal production and sales. For example: 2024 FHS Medal: mintage limit = 75,000; original product limit = 75,000, revised product limit = 50,000; latest sales = 49,932 (includes 8,926 from Bulk Sales). There were no (24YH040) 40 coin tray sales. 2025-W ASE w/ US Army Privy Coin: mintage limit = 100,000; (original) product limit = 100,000; possible authorized mintage = 75,000; latest sales = 74,847 (may include 10,170 from Bulk Sales).… Read more »
Rich,
I’d be interested in hearing about a response to CoinNews with regard to the “expected update”.
I’d also like to see some clarification in regards to the 10k 25APM units ordered & posted a week prior to release day.

In early June when word got out that Trump would be signing EO’s that would overturn the CA Pipedream EV Mandate(to Elon’s chagrin/Big Oil & UAW delight), Pt & Pd spiked. Whether this Trump EV cancellation affected those Metals to rise or not is beyond my analytic paygrade, but interesting timing anyway.

The US Mint isn’t the only one that is slowing down. An analysis of site traffic across major US retailers suggests that the US economy is slowing down too. In fact, it has been slowing for the last 6 months.
E 1: it is obvious to the casual observer that retailing, sit down restaurants, even recreational travel are all declining within the US. Difficult to determine if consumer credit limitations, security concerns, weather extremes, or loss of confidence in maintaining a lifestyle are the principal drivers, but the decline is obvious. Yes rising prices because of tariffs and world geopolitical tensions contribute……Mint product sales are impacted…..consumers simply don’t have the disposable income as in years past. I have been a customer of Mint products since the mid 60s, pretty heavy mid 90s to 2016….when I discontinued silver products entirely and… Read more »
HarryB, I have a saying. “When people are happy, they buy coins. When people are unhappy, they don’t buy coins.” I think most are somewhere in the middle these days. There is a lot of financial uncertainty floating around in the air as of late. I’m in for a couple of 2025 coins from the mint this year and that will be it. I’m cutting it off at 2025 – the quarter century mark. That leaves a few silver proofs from the 40’s and early 50’s to finish everything off next year. Much like you, I’ve been at this for… Read more »
E 1, I had to chuckle last month when Jeff Gundlach said gold is no longer for lunatics.
Rich,
I was wondering if we’ve had an official report on the Fort Knox Gold Inventory? I haven’t heard or seen anything in the news. Anyone?
No official report yet. Legislation titled the Gold Reserve Transparency Act of 2025 (H.R. 3795) was introduced in the House of Representatives on June 6, 2025 and has been referred to the House Committee on Financial Services. The bill would initiate the first comprehensive audit of US gold reserves since the 1950s, and if passed, the bill would require the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to conduct a full physical assay and inventory of America’s gold holdings within one year. It also mandates disclosure of all gold-related transactions over the past 50 years, including loans, leases, swaps, encumbrances, purchases and sales,… Read more »
Rich,
I was wondering why we haven’t heard anything. Talk about political red tape. Great piece of info.
Thanks,
E 1
E 1,
Interestingly, JM Bullion (reference: jmbullion.com/investing-guide/facts/fort-knox-audit) has estimated that a comprehensive assay, inventory and audit of the Fort Knox gold reserves cannot be completed in less than 18 months.
Rich,
That article is an eye opener. Sounds like no easy task.
“This audit represents one of the most significant verification projects in modern financial history, and its execution will likely evolve as the team encounters the practical realities of the task.”
Thanks again

I remember watching a pretty interesting documentary on the History Channel about the place in the last year or two.
E 1, with respect to your comment, “What do they know that we don’t?” Perhaps Nassim Taleb said the quiet part out loud in a recent Bloomberg interview, namely that gold is effectively now the (unofficial global) reserve currency.
I’d much rather look at Pussy Galore…..
“ “When people are happy, they buy coins. When people are unhappy, they don’t buy coins.” When I’m able to buy a coin, it makes me happy. I think the hunt for a coin that I’m seeking makes me just as happy, maybe more?(thrill of the hunt)… Anyway, declining sales at the Mint isn’t surprising for obvious reasons. Same can be said about Retail Giants Amazon & eBay site traffic – There’s nowhere to go but down after the Holiday season 6 mos ago. I’ve never seen so much buzz in the coin markets over the last year, just me. Love… Read more »
Rick,
That may be the coin of the year for the US Mint. A first of its kind design. All of these Liberty Series metals in the last five years have been great. A nice deep dish with high relief details. Excellent symmetry too.
Cheers
Totally agree with you & Rick on this one. The obverse side is outstanding, but the eagle on the reverse is astounding. Even if it’s not proof (do we know definitively yet?), I may be a buyer.
Yes, the Reverse Design is brilliant. It causes the eye to swirl counter clockwise and then focus on the Eagle’s Beak. It’s like a circular journey around the coin’s reverse. Either side of the coin has an “Uncluttered” look. JMHO, but that is how I like to see a coin. Artistically, I give the coin’s design very high marks. JM, move over. Stay at the Perth if you like.
Cheers

many factors probably all happening at same time. companies doing layoffs or at least pulling back on hiring (due to AI or lower demand or both), many boomers retiring and pulling back on spending, tariffs, reduced foreign visitors due to capricious border control officers, elevated persistent inflation (but don’t get me started on CPI components skewing the numbers), disinvestment in US assets resulting in dollar index drop (about 10% in the last 6 months), etc. personally i had already decided to stop mint purchases next year, I pretty much got started by the bicentennial stuff in 1976, so it seems… Read more »
“Personally i had already decided to stop mint purchases next year, I pretty much got started by the bicentennial stuff in 1976, so it seems an appropriate bookend with the 2026 semiquincentennial stuff (if any even gets issued).”
Maybe that was a subliminal motivation for me to buy the Sequicentennial commemorative.
REB,
You’ve got company when it comes to the $2.5 Sequi Commem FYI(from the previous article)…

Thanks for the link. I hadn’t seen it. I’m in. Harry’s in. The water’s warm, Rick. Come on in.
The more I see that coin, the more I like it. They sure are valuable. You got a good deal for yours. I might just dive in, so watch yourselves!
Go for it Rick, I got a 62 a ways back. The design is classic kinda an Art Deco feel IMO….
Raleigh coin show was fun, quite educational and a good overall experience! Thanks for suggesting that Carson MiniBrite magnifying glass Rick and E1. For any interested I picked it up at Hobby Lobby for $11. Now the show! I did not find the right coin at the right price as far as finding a nice Indian Head Half Eagle. There were some nice coins, however after looking at them in hand, nothing I saw, spoke to me or was as clean as what I think I’d be happy with. Also, now I can fully comprehend and relate with buy the… Read more »
Great story, Cali. Sorry I missed your wheeling and dealing in person. Congrats on the purchases and the passes. I’m looking forward to “More later …”.
REB, others, a bit of a disheartening tale from the Raleigh Money Expo. I walked up on a table where a dealer was giving some advice, providing an estimate, second opinion to a couple on what some Morgan dollars they were attempting to sell were worth. Needless to say it was disappointing to hear the couple had been offered around $300 from another dealer for a group of Morgan’s that this dealer valued at $900+. I know dealers have to make a few bucks, however this was beyond a low ball offer and I’d argue a flat out ripoff in… Read more »
Good advice, Cali.
Many thanks for your report from the Raleigh show Cali.
Nice work with your ATB Silver purchase!
No hurry in finding a quality IH $5 Gold coin. Someday you’ll get just the right one ✓
Always be careful, from real, world IMO & experience dealers make their $ buying NOT selling, unless a PM pop….
Cali,
Sounds like you had a good time. It is always best to put an eyeball to a coin before buying it. That is why I prefer the show. I didn’t know you were a Silver Stacker.
Stack On Brother
E1, a silver stacker of sorts, except I played the game in an unconventional way? In that the overwhelming vast majority of my accumulation, hoard, collection, is pretty much considered and was bought on the numismatic side of things. True “silver stackers” from my understanding, stack bullion bars, rounds, coins vs numismatic coins. Not saying I don’t have a stack of silver, I just never took advantage of bullion pricing unfortunately. In many ways, before I became more knowledgeable, I’d mistakenly thought many of my numismatic purchases would hold or increase in value, beyond intrinsic values. Doh! I do have… Read more »
CaliSkier,
I too was at the Raleigh show on Saturday. I was looking for some nice CC Morgans and getting price offers for those 2011 25th Anniversary ASE sets. They were saying they are buying them for between $400 to $450 a set. That seemed a bit ridiculous to me, but I was watching a few people selling some coins and they were buying pretty much based on spot of the pm. It was a good crowd at the show and well worth the time. Cheers
Craig, too bad you didn’t chime in when I mentioned a possible meet up with REB and Sam-I-Am at the show. Although we may differ on some topics, it would have been cool to meet a fellow collector and member of the blog! Maybe next time? Anyhow, curious if you bought any raffle tickets from the Raleigh Coin Club? I bought 6/$25 bucks worth, thinking money goes to a good cause and who knows, maybe I’ll get lucky? Although I know you could buy any of the coins in the raffle outright, seemed like it wasn’t too bad of odds… Read more »
Who knows, maybe next year. I wish I was told about that raffle, CaliSkier, as I’d have got in on a chance to win some gold coin! 1 in 1200 is better odds than any other raffle I’ve been part of…and for the record, I’ve never won anything from a raffle in my life. I’m hoping you’ll have better luck when they release the results in early July! Let me know how that turns out. Cheers
No 28d Saint prize de luxe.
Craig, the sets don’t command much LCS offered me 80 a coin x5….$400….cost $300. No real legs. I did get 5 sets a sharp buy at one time, maybe they’ll pick up some premium but AG hits $50 u will get $500…. Maybe
sales on eBay not strong…a lot listed for $600+/-
JQC, I just wanted to see what they are bringing these days and you’re right, no real legs and kinda like holding dead money. But I’m not losing money on them, so there’s that! Lol. I think if you sell coins for $$$, you have to do it immediately after purchasing them. They always fall in price with time. Fortunately, I’ve never had to sell any and really intend to pass them on to relatives. That’s why most of my money, over the years, has gone into the stock market. I know at all times the buy/sell price for the… Read more »
Craig, I’ve bought a lot more stox the past 5 years than What have become mostly overpriced trinkets from he USM. Dead. Money, good way to put it, funny I think many look to the newer and ignore older mintages that aren’t minuscule in the overall pix. I’ve sold and sell a lot but of late it slowed…slooooed down. ATB burnished used to sell ok, now aged and getting algae….or mold….or tarnish…or milk spots…or…..
good luck!!!!
Good deal,Cali, LCS hereabouts paying $194 for any ATB Puck. I got a roll of those Covid Bat ATBs pucks. No idea how many of these I got but I know Arkansas and Yosemite I got burnished as the bullion were tuff to get @ issue start….someday, love spell AImchanged someday to “play eBay” yeah AI gonna save the world…
ANYONE REMEMBER A MOVIE CALLED COLLOSUS THE FORBIN PROJECT……. Fantastic and will IT happen…. The Watch Phase IV
Now, for a Fun Raleigh Coin Show Note! A dealer from here in NC shared a story, with me,which all I can say, is this is what he told me. He once had an elderly woman bring him some coins, which led to an interesting and memorable experience. She just so happens to come to him with a number of $2.50 and $5.00 gold coins, dated in the 1850’s from both the Charlotte and Dahlonega Mints! Of course he was as beyond curious and says to her, “so what’s the story”? She relays to him that she lived on a… Read more »
Great story.
What an amazing story! I always wonder why folks bury their gold coins out where no one will ever find them if they pass suddenly (it does happen). No wonder so many people are out there with metal detectors! Cheers
The good and the bad news being published in tomorrow’s Federal Register! The Sacagawea 1/2oz’er will have a premium of $525 for 1/2oz of gold or $1050/ounce premium over melt. Not too bad, all things considered. For comparison, the 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Proof has a premium of $475 per 1/2oz or $950/ounce over melt. A 1oz American Gold Eagle Proof has a premium of $900/ounce over melt. The DC Comic Art 1/2oz gold coins will have a whopping premium of $1,080 for 1/2oz of gold or $2,160/ounce over melt. OUCH! Lastly, if available the First Spouse 1/2oz proofs… Read more »
CaliSkier,
Better run your numbers again…
Cag, I could be mistaken, however here is how I came to my numbers. At the $3,500 to $3,549.99 range, the DC Comic Art Coin is $2,830 for just 1/2oz of gold. So, 1/2 oz of gold, using $3,500 as a basis would only be $1,750 worth of gold for a price of $2,830, a difference of $1,080. If one wants an ounce of gold in Superman 1/2oz’ers you’d have to pay $5,660 and that 1oz would be worth $3,500, or a difference of $2,160? The coins become a slightly better deal at $3,549.99, however the price range begins at… Read more »
CaliSkier, You are missing the point. The United States Mint has always used static grid pricing vs. dynamic grid pricing for Gold, Platinum and Palladium. Static grid pricing in the past. Always for Gold, Platinum and Palladium. The Comic Art ½ oz. 24k Gold will be the first time the Mint has used dynamic grid pricing. Dynamic grid pricing. First time. The $1080.00 premium that you have posted is only for one price point. Only one price point. The dynamic grid pricing for the Comic Art ½ oz. 24k Gold changes pricing by $40.00 per $50.00 increment. The old static… Read more »
The premium on $3600 is $1110.00
Ok, thanks Cag for spelling it out! I’d have loved to have solved your puzzle, however I do appreciate you cutting to the chase and not keeping me in suspense. So now the sucky part again, besides the huge premium you and I have pointed out. The pricing grid would have to drop 33 tier levels to bring us down to where the premium would be almost equivalent to the premium on a 1/2oz First Spouse gold coin. The pricing grid would have to drop 35 tier levels in order to get to the 1/2oz AGE proof premium price point.… Read more »
I prefer the view out my rear view mirror where we/I could get gold @USM form only a tad over spot, or buy post a spot jump and mint status on price. Cag as w the mint and big boys im In this for money, profit$, so it was great when I took advantage now I’ve basically fired the Mint as is our right. FHG and other debacles show the Mint gives a rats arse about us small fry. Raise it to double spot, you’ll be happy. Low mintage don’t = profits see Jackie Bu and capital visitors center, etc.… Read more »
Kind of like opening a bad package of meat, never know how you will react. But, I know some will buy. DC will market them, and I foresee a lot of established and classic collectors sucking them up…. And to go with that I got a Bridge for sale in Brooklyn…
Thanks Cali that explains the pop inUSM Pd offerings! Matching Pt…..paying DC for designs WTF
should be gifted they get exposure. Good luck mint…Cali you buying? Cheap before next price increases…. Should have Skipped DC and produced reissues of some of the many gorgeous patterns made over here years, a silver Union 2 1/2 $1000….Gold Union $50 $10,000….so many options we get Superman flying in from Nudist colony
JQC,
‘Superman flying in from Nudist colony’….that one gave me a good chuckle!
Same here.
John Q I will not be buying any DC Comic products in any form at any price! Strike that, if we see gold spot price drop to $1,000 or less,‘I’m a buyer of the gold coin(s)! Yeah, that’s going to happen! Hahaha. I am contemplating the 2025 Sacagawea or 2025 American Liberty. I am “kicking” myself for not “bucking up” and finding a way to buy the 2021 Mustang/Bronco Liberty! I was a little strapped for cash in 2021 and actually had to sell off 1 of 2 APdE’s in 2019 and a couple bullion 1oz gold buffalo’s in 2021… Read more »
Cali I’m with you that Bronco was pricey at the time $2,500 ish, in retrospect what a deal. Maybe I’d buy DC medals for spot, they are all medals to me even if “money” and the reverse of the Superman – a jet? Huh……what next The Flash gets a speeding ticket. I do t see how that ridiculous Superman obv was selected? Joes LBGTQ++ board….weird
Great story about the NC farm find!
Some people still bury their coins(my Mom did), these days.. Thankfully, she allowed me to take them with me so that I could ‘bury’ them lol…
I like the SAC 1/2 oz design over the 1/2 oz Comic coin…
CaliSkier, Those high premiums being charged to those that collect these PM coins from the mint are the main reason I don’t buy them any longer. I’m no longer a ‘spring chicken’ (and doubt many on this site are) so I don’t want to go in the hole for $1K for a 1 oz Au coin. Out at the Raleigh coin show, I heard several dealers stating they would buy for 5-7% less than spot for the PM coin. I didn’t hear a word about them paying a ‘premium’! I realise the Mint has to make a profit on pressing… Read more »
Received an email from the mint that my order for the Army proof eagle was cancelled. No explanation. This is the final straw I have cancelled all of subscriptions and will not buy from them again. Started buying sets in 1971, they can sell to the dealers and I will not buy from them either.
It sounds unusual that you received the email cancellation notice 18 days after your order was placed. Did you receive the first US Mint email stating “your order# has been received” right after you placed the order and the second email stating “your order# has been confirmed” a few hours later?
Correct I got notice it was received and shortly there after it was confirmed, and today it was cancelled. The order was place approx. 1230 hrs. on the first day of ordering.
“Reports on another website indicate that the Mint is cancelling orders that were using “jigging” addresses and/or shipments sent to different addresses with the same billing address.”
Not saying that this is your situation, but they must’ve found something off? If your order was cancelled – you get to try for another coin at 7:30 ET(if available)? Just make sure everything is in order as far as billing/shipping/CC, etc, and be quick to beat out the hundreds of others online/in line wanting one…
Received a notice a few minutes ago that can get in the queue today at 1330 hrs. to purchase the Army Privy eagle. I only attempted to purchase one coin payment info and delivery info was the same. I will mostly talk to the Mint reps at the FUN Show next week but either way I am finished with them. Too many nicer coins to acquire especially next week during FUN.
