Today, Jan. 5, at noon EST, the United States Mint will begin selling two special occasion products, the 2021 Birth Set and the 2021 Happy Birthday Coin Set.
Both contain the same five numismatic finish coins in proof quality but each has its own presentation folder themed for their purpose. (A proof is the highest quality coin produced by the Mint.) Both sets are also listed at the same price point of $25 with no pre-determined mintage, product or household order limits.
The five coins in each set include:
- 2021-S Proof Kennedy half dollar
- 2021-S Proof Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site quarter
- 2021-S Proof Roosevelt dime
- 2021-S Proof Jefferson nickel
- 2021-S Proof Lincoln cent
The Tuskegee Airmen 25-cent piece represents the last issue from the U.S. Mint’s fifty-six coin program of America the Beautiful quarter dollars.
All five coins were produced at the U.S. Mint’s facility in San Francisco and carry its "S" mint mark.
The Birth Set coins are encapsulated and packaged in a teddy bear-themed folder with both sides of the coins visible. The presentation folder includes space for the baby’s vital statistics, a personalized message and a 3"x 5" photograph.
A more festive display folder is used for the Happy Birthday Coin Set with red, gold, and silver balloons. Again, both sides of each included coin are visible.
The U.S. Mint’s Certificate of Authenticity is printed on the folders’ back while coin specifications are printed on the back of set sleeves.
Those specifications, as provided by the U.S. Mint, are shown below:
