Two new products debuted in United States Mint sales stats this week, the 2014-W Proof American Platinum Eagle and the Roosevelt Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Set.
Proof Platinum Eagles launched on Monday, Oct. 20. Featuring the sixth and final design from the Preamble Series, sales hit 3,341 for the best debut in three years. An earlier CoinNews article offers sales comparisons for each of the six designs.
On Tuesday, Oct. 21, the United States Mint started selling Roosevelt Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Sets. Holding an uncirculated quality 2014-P Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential $1 Coin and a Eleanor Roosevelt First Spouse Bronze Medal, sales of the set opened at 1,464 for the strongest start in the series this year.
Elsewhere, demand for most gold collectibles improved for a third straight week. Ten of 18 First Spouse Gold Coins registered higher sales than a week earlier, as did the 2014-W 50th Anniversary Kennedy Half-Dollar Gold Coin, all four 2014-W Proof American Gold Eagle products, the 2014-W Uncirculated American Gold Eagle, and the 2014-W Proof American Gold Buffalo.

This week the U.S. Mint reported sales updates to 281 numismatic products. 152 of them outperformed their prior weekly sales compared to 79 previously. Eight increased by more than 1,000 units compared to 6 previously. Five products had their totals notched lower, matching the prior report.
