Gold Declines Modestly as Silver Edges Up, US Bullion Coins Rise
Gold declined slightly Monday as a stronger U.S. dollar provided pressure and stirred profit-taking following the metal's 2.9% advance last week.

Odyssey’s Black Swan Named Sunken Coin Treasure Lands in Spain
A story lasting over five years involving 17-tons of sunken coin treasure and legal battles is apparently ending. Spanish officials are now processing 500,000-plus gold and (mostly) silver coins along with other objects recovered from the ocean floor.
This follows a federal judge ruling last week ordering the estimated $500 million worth of recovered treasure to be turned over to Spain by Odyssey Marine Exploration, based in Tampa, Florida. Odyssey had discovered the shipwrecked treasure in 2007 in international waters about 100 miles west of the Straits of Gibraltar [...]

Spot gold dealings commenced the new trading week with a loss of $6 per ounce and the yellow metal was quoted at $1,767 on the bid-side. Silver prices fell by about a dime per ounce and initial indications came in at $35.32 the ounce in the white metal. Unless gold commences a decline to under the $1,680 area in the next few sessions, the interpretation coming from the EW technical desk allows for the yellow metal to aim towards not only the next logical overhead resistance price marker(s) ($1,795 to $1,820) but perhaps to the previous peak above $1,900 that was seen last September [...]
Gold, Silver Surge in Weekly Gain and Silver Eagles Rebound
Gold dipped Friday, breaking away from a three-day winning streak but still notching a weighty weekly advance of $50.50, or 2.9%.
This week proved to be silver's party, however, as prices soared 6.4% -- a gain that triggered several U.S. Mint silver product suspensions.

US Mint Halts Sales of Silver Numismatic Products for Repricing
As market prices for silver surged above $35 an ounce Thursday, the United States Mint stopped selling several of its numismatic products that contain the white metal, including all five of its 2011-dated America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins™ as well as its one ounce 2011-W Uncirculated American Silver Eagle.

Birth Set with 2012 US Coins Designed for Newborn Babies
A new "2012 Birth Set" was revealed by the United States Mint Thursday when the bureau updated its product schedule with several upcoming releases.
The U.S. Mint has since published a product page for the Birth Set which is currently targeted with a release date of March 13.

Gold Maintains Momentum, Silver Prices Surge 3.8% to Top $35
Gold advanced 0.8% Thursday to extend its winning streak to three straight days and close at a fresh three-month high while silver prices soared 3.8% to settle well above $35 an ounce.

US Mint 2012 Numismatic Product Schedule Updated
The United States Mint on Thursday updated its 2012 numismatic schedule, adding a handful of products for release in March, April and May.

US Mint Sales: American Eagles Improve, Infantry Dollars Lead Numismatic Coins
New U.S. Mint sales figures show that buying activity picked up slightly last week for the bureau's numismatic coins. Sales were no doubt supported by the introduction of the commemorative 2012 Infantry Soldier Silver Dollars yet kept in check by the extended U.S. holiday weekend. While Infantry dollars stood out, bullion and collectible coins in the form of American Eagles were among the weekly overachievers.
Collectors purchased a combined total of 54,675 Infantry dollars in proof and uncirculated qualities during their 5-day opening sales period from Thursday to Monday [...]
