2011-W $5 Proof American Gold Eagle No Longer Available
As of Thursday, April 12, 2012, the United States Mint is no longer selling the individual 2011-W $5 Proof American Gold Eagle.
The 22 karat, one-tenth ounce gold coin was added to the 'No Longer Available" section of the U.S. Mint's website with a "sold out" indication. This latest removal leaves just the four-coin set as the last option available for the 2011-dated proofs. 2012 Britannia Sets, Gold and Silver Proof Coins Mark 25th Anniversary
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Britannia proof coins from the Royal Mint. To acknowledge the milestone, special 2012 Britannia gold and silver proof coins have been released containing the original reverse design used on the inaugural 1987 issues.

Gold, Silver Prices Rally as Bullion Silver Eagles Inch Up
Gold rallied 1.2% Thursday, posting a gain in four of the last five sessions. The yellow metal was off 40 cents on Wednesday which snapped a three-session winning streak. Gold was supported on the day by a weaker U.S. dollar.

2012 Proof American Silver Eagle Available from US Mint
Today, April 12, 2012, the United States Mint released the 2012-W Proof American Silver Eagle at 12:00 Noon ET.
Its initial price is $59.95, but as with all coins containing precious metals, the amount is subject to change. During the course of sales last year, the proof's pricing changed twice due to major swings in the precious metals market.

Canada Modernizes Coinage with Penny Elimination and New $1, $2 Coins
In a span of less than two weeks, Canada announced the elimination of its penny and the Royal Canadian Mint released newly modernized $1 and $2 coins.

After several slumbering weeks, United States Mint sales were awakened with the release of Chaco Culture quarters and Chester Arthur $1 coins. The debuting products substantially lifted unit sales for the bureau, despite the Easter holiday break.

The midweek trading session in precious metals opened to the downside in New York this morning despite a 0.31% drop in the US dollar on the trade-weighted index and a 0.30% gain in crude oil values. Then again, yesterday, we witnessed the price of gold rising nearly $20 along with gains in the US dollar. Spot gold was down $4 at $1,656.50 while spot silver fell 23 cents to $31.61 the ounce.

Commemorative gold and other numismatic gold coins from the United States Mint are poised for price cuts Wednesday, April 11, based on the bureau's pricing policy and the latest direction of the precious metals market.
