Gold, silver and other precious metals rallied Thursday, as did U.S. Mint American Eagle silver coins. Gold reached its highest price in 11 months, nearing $1,800 an ounce, while silver topped $35 an ounce for its highest price since early March.

2012 First Spouse Gold Coin Sales Begin October 11
Tuesday morning the U.S. Mint updated its product schedule to include the starting sales date for the 2012 First Spouse Gold Coin honoring Alice Paul and the suffrage movement. Its release date is October 11, 2012 at noon ET.

Commemorative Coins Reform Act Seeks Surcharge Ban to Private Entities
Legislation was introduced in both the House and the Senate on Friday, September 21, that would prohibit the payment of surcharges to private organizations or entities from the sale of U.S. Mint commemorative coins.
