Gold Prices Hit New Record, Silver Surges and Tops $39

0

Fine Gold BarsU.S. gold and silver futures rallied to highs Tuesday as a weaker dollar, inflation concerns and continued unease in the Middle East and North Africa awakened demand for precious metals.

Gold prices closed to a new record above $1,450 an ounce and silver marked a second day at 31-year highs as it topped $39 an ounce [...]

2011 American Eagle Silver Bullion Coin

2011 American Eagle Silver Bullion CoinInvestors purchased fewer American Silver Eagles in March 2011, but the investment grade coins still managed to tally up never-before-seen quarterly sales.

2,767,000 of the 99.9% pure silver coins were ordered in March 2011 from the United States Mint, according to the bureau's most recent coin sales figures.

While the total is not insignificant and it must take into account US Mint coin rationing, it pales in comparison to [...]

American Eagle and Buffalo Gold Bullion CoinDemand for 22-karat American Gold Eagle coins retreated in March 2011, but the United States Mint still sold more ounces of gold bullion coins during the month than in February 2011 or during the same period last year. Fewer ounces were sold than in January 2011, however.

US Mint Authorized Purchasers (AP's) ordered 115,000 ounces of gold bullion coins last month. That was better than the 92,500 ounces purchased during the [...]

Tuesday Kitcommentary – The Right and The Wrong

Bullion BarsSpot gold dealings opened with a small, $0.90 per ounce loss, quoted at $1,433.60 as against a 0.13 gain in the US dollar on the trade-weighted index.

A brief spike to $1,440 followed gold's opening as buyers once again attempted to test overhead resistance but then pulled back for a respite.

The greenback gained a bit of traction against the euro as -- despite the imminent ECB rate hike -- the region's common currency is still "at risk" from the lingering peripheral country debt issues [...]

Gold Rises, Silver Prices Surge 2% to 31-Year High

0

Fine Gold BarsU.S. precious metals advanced Monday. Gold rose the least at 0.3 percent. Silver prices soared the most at 2.0 percent as they reached a new 31-year high and closed near $38.50 an ounce. Gains in metals were attributed mostly to inflation concerns.

June gold prices advanced $4.10 to $1,433.00 an ounce on the Comex in New York. Gold traded between $1,429.10 and $1,440.30 [...]

One roll contains 40 quarter-dollars minted in Philadelphia, and the other is filled with 40 strikes from Denver -- both facilities are responsible for producing America's circulating coinage. Monday Kitcommentary – Drunk on Crude-Aid

Bullion BarsSpot gold trading opened with a $9.90 per ounce gain in New York on Monday, as the hefty additions to crude oil values helped the entire commodities complex reach for higher ground.

Support in bullion is currently seen as residing near the $1,419 and $1,404 price-points, while resistance overhead remains in place near $1,444 and the $1,452 levels. Crude oil will provide much of this week's lead for the gold trade (and a crowded trade it is, but perhaps nowhere near as sardine can-like as is silver) [...]

Gold and Silver Drop on Day, but Register Weekly Gains

0

Fine Gold BarsThree of four precious metals declined Friday. Gold fell the furthest following better than expected jobs data which showed that the U.S. unemployment rate dipped to 8.8 percent.

Despite losses, there were sizable advances in bullion this week. Weekly gains ranged from a low of 0.2 percent to a high of 3.3 percent.

April gold prices declined $11.00, or 0.8 percent, to [...]

US Mint 2011 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof SetThe United States Mint released the second annual America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set on Friday, April 1, 2011 at 12 noon ET. Collectors will have to spend a little more than originally expected, due to the rising cost of the market price of silver.

The US Mint priced the set at $41.95. Previously, it had been reported that the set would be $39.95, but that was before silver prices soared in 2011 to fresh and multiple 31-year highs. In fact, last year's silver quarters set also [...]

Friday Kitcommentary: Signs

Bullion BarsPrecious metals started the new month and quarter off with muted gains as the focus remained intensely (and apprehensively) on the US Labor Department's report due just ten minutes after markets' opening time.

Spot gold dealings showed a rise of $2.70 per ounce on the bid-side (quoted at $1,434.50), as against a 0.11 rise in the US dollar on the trade-weighted index (to 76.11) and as against a $0.48 gain in crude oil (last quoted at $107.20 per barrel) [...]
