PCGS Presents Stewart Blay’s Legendary "Red Copper Collection" at ANA
The "Red Copper Collection" of mint state and proof half cents and cents will be publicly displayed for the first time by Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) at the American Numismatic Association World's Fair of Money® convention in Baltimore, July 30 – August 2, 2008.
Assembled over a period of more than 20 years by Stewart Blay of New York, the collection contains some of the finest known copper coins and has won awards from the PCGS Set RegistrySM annually for each of the past six years.

NASA Silver and Gold Coin Legislation Moves Forward
Coin legislation entitled NASA 50th Anniversary Commemorative Coin Act (S. 2159) should receive the President's signature in short order.
The Senate unanimously passed the act on Thursday, June 19, which follows unanimous passage by the House for the same named bill on July 30, 2007.
The legislation authorizes the United States Mint to issue:
300,000 silver $1 dollar coins from each of 9 designs, and
- 50,000 $50 one-ounce gold coins
The NASA commemoratives would be minted in "proof quality only." The proposed nine various designs for the silver coins add an extra level of intrigue to these commemoratives that is sure to peak interest.

D.C. Quarter Design of Duke Ellington Wins
District of Columbia Mayor Adrian Fenty announced Thursday the winning Washington, D.C. quarter design featuring historical jazz legend, Duke Ellington. The Mayor officially communicated the selection to United States Mint Director Edmund Moy.
On May 23, D.C. residents were given three quarter design concepts and asked to vote for their favorite. Public voting ended Wednesday, June 18. Over the four week voting period, 6,089 District residents cast online, mail or telephone votes. The voting was close across each, but the winning quarter design of Ellington won by 3 percentage points.
