Franklin Roosevelt $1 Coin Cover, Annual Uncirculated Dollar Coin Set and Great Sand Dunes National Park Quarters Three Coin Set

The Mint’s newest products were weekly top sellers

New $1 coin covers, quarters sets and annual uncirculated sets sparked interest and helped buoy sales across other United States Mint products.

Sales gains widened with 91 older products outperforming their prior weekly sales compared to 56 previously. The newest products that supported those increases included:

2014 United States Mint Annual Uncirculated Dollar Coin Sets enjoyed the most attention with starting sales of 12,876, topping last year’s set which opened at 9,636 and eventually ended at 43,156.

Franklin D. Roosevelt $1 Coin Covers ranked 2nd in popularity with debuting sales of 9,842, the quickest start in the product line this year. Immediate prior Herbert Hoover $1 Coin Covers opened at 9,085. Before then, the Calvin Coolidge $1 Coin Cover started at 9,360 and the Warren G. Harding $1 Coin Cover debuted at 9,588.

Three-coin sets of quarters are having a tougher time this year, at least in the early going. The newest Great Sand Dunes Quarters Three-Coin Set opened with sales of 8,941. The start was the slowest of the sets to date with the most recent issues featuring Arches quarters, Shenandoah quarters, and Great Smoky Mountains quarters starting at 9,250; 9,402 and 9,578.

I am 15 years old* just start the coins as my Hobby 🙂

Ilovesilver,
In a few more years you’ll have a spouse who will tell you the same thing. Everything in coin collecting is interest and mintage. Most of the 100 bags of “S” quarters that sold out are selling on EBay for around $50. Adjusted for listing costs will net you $43.25. If I like something, I buy it. If you like something as an investment, DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!! An example would be the 2011 Anniversary Silver Eagle Set. At 100K mintage, it was a no brainer. I bought 5 sold 4 and had a free one for myself. Another example was the HOF GOLD coins at 50K mintage. If they didn’t sell out in 2 days, you could cancel your order. Won on that one. Now I should have listened to my spouse on the Kennedy Gold halves although she knows nothing about coins. Happy collecting young man!

Email from the Mint today said that after the website transition, they are ending the subscription discount.
“Eligible subscription products shipped before September 27, 2014 will receive the current subscription discount; eligible subscription products shipped subsequent to the launch of the new website will be charged at regular price.”
It was nice while it lasted…

Ilovesilver, Welcome. And buy all the silver you can. Better than wasting $ on gaming. Read everything you can from Ted Butler, who has proven price manipulation in silver. When it ends, prices will have to go ballistic.

Kahoola, thanks for the heads up. I missed that message. I will cancel my 5 oz subs. I think there will be more unintended consequences for the US mint. That usually happens every time they make a stupid decision.

And I’m still waiting for the online auction prices to reflect last year’s uncirculated burnished Silver Eagle is now the lowest mintage of the burnished W Silver Eagle coins.
