Mark Twain Commemorative Coins Proposed Again
Last week, Senator Richard Blumenthal [D-CT] of Connecticut introduced legislation that calls for gold and silver commemorative coins during calendar year 2016 to celebrate the life and legacy of Mark Twain.
Mark Twain, the pen name used by Samuel Clemens, wrote many books that are still in print after more than a century since his death in 1910. Two of his most noted novels include The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and its sequel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Gold Prices Advance, Palladium Extends Rally to Eight Days
Gold prices advanced Wednesday after two straight days of losses that were driven by S&P's review and possible credit downgrades of euro zone members. Trading was thin, however, as investors were said to be on the sidelines waiting for Friday's meeting of European leaders and their actions to address the region's debt-woes.

Debut sales are in for three newly released United States products, including the 2011 America the Beautiful Quarters Circulating Coin Set, 2011 Lucretia Garfield First Spouse Gold Coins and the 2011-P Olympic National Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin.
While none of the products were tip-top-sellers for the Mint, two of them did show up in the bureau's top-ten weekly sales list.

Interest in America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Coins continues to dwindle based on United States Mint sales data. The latest issue in the series to show slower opening sales is the collectible 2011-P Olympic National Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin.
Collectors purchased 8,662 between its release on Tuesday, November 29 and Monday December 5. Priced at $229.95, the United States Mint registered total sales of just over $1.99 million. Gold Dips, Palladium Prices Rally 17.7% Through 7th Daily Gain
Gold declined slightly Tuesday, registering a second straight day of losses. Prices, however, recovered sharply from earlier lows. Markets were jittery following S&P's threat to expand credit downgrades to 15 European Union countries. Technical selling also pressured the yellow metal, according to some analysts.

Senate Bill Proposes March of Dimes Commemorative Coins
Newly introduced Senate legislation proposes silver commemorative coins in 2014 to honor the 75th anniversary of the March of Dimes.
Numbered S. 1935 and jointly introduced by Sen. Kay Hagan [D-NC] and Sen. Susan Collins [R-NH] on Friday, December 1, the March of Dimes Commemorative Coin Act of 2011 adds further support to an identically named Act that was brought before the House in October.
