Candidate designs for a 2026 release in the U.S. Mint’s Comic Art Coin and Medal Program, featuring DC’s Green Lantern, have been unveiled and reviewed. The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) examined the designs on Sept. 16, following a review by the Commission of Fine Arts (CFA) on Sept. 18. Both panels agreed on the obverse but split on the reverse, similar to their review of the 2026 Robin designs.

Green Lantern is one of three superheroes slated for recognition next year, alongside Robin (designs) and Supergirl (designs). The program’s initial series will highlight nine DC characters. It launched this year through a collaboration between the Mint and Warner Bros. Discovery, beginning with coins and medals featuring Superman (designs), Batman (designs), and Wonder Woman (designs).
As with this year’s offerings, the 2026 lineup will include 1/2-ounce 24K gold $50 coins, 2.5-ounce and 1-ounce silver medals, and 1.2-inch clad medals. Each superhero is represented by a shared obverse and reverse design across all formats, with minor differences such as no required coin inscriptions on medals and no dates on the 1-ounce silver and clad versions, since they are not limited to a single year of issue.
Green Lantern Obverse Designs
The obverse designs depict John Stewart, Earth’s third Green Lantern. Design O-03 was chosen as the overall favorite by both the CCAC and CFA, while ranking as Warner Bros. Discovery’s second preference. Their first choice was O-01.

Green Lantern Reverse Designs
Several reverse designs were also considered. The CCAC selected R-03, Warner Bros. Discovery’s top preference, which shows Green Lantern’s raised fist with his power ring emitting a glowing beam of light. The CFA, however, favored R-05, the CCAC’s second-highest vote-getter, which depicts a fist and power ring emerging through the iconic Green Lantern symbol. The construct in the background symbolizes Stewart’s engineering expertise.

Upcoming Releases
Sales opened July 27 for the Superman coin and medals. The Batman issues launch on Sept. 25, followed by Wonder Woman on Nov. 13. Bronze medals for all three are planned for 2026, along with Green Lantern, Robin, and Supergirl products, while The Flash, Batgirl, and Aquaman are scheduled to join the lineup in 2027. Additional comic themes are planned should the series continue into later years.
