After a three-week gap without any updates, the United States Mint’s latest sales data provides not only revised figures for older releases but also a first look at several newer and recently issued products.

Among the latest additions, the U.S. Mint last week released two products: the 2025-W Proof American Platinum Eagle, the final coin in a design series, and the clad 2025 Quarters Proof Set, which includes the last designs in its American Women Quarters™ Program.
2025-W Proof American Platinum Eagle Sales Debut
Released on Feb. 20, the "Right to Petition" 2025-W Proof American Platinum Eagle concludes the Mint’s five-year design series celebrating the freedoms of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Priced at $1,545, it posted four-day opening sales of 2,615 coins, ranking as the Mint’s third best seller for the week ending Feb. 23.
For comparison, the first coin in the design series, issued in 2021, opened with sales of 4,961, followed by the second coin in 2022 at 6,668, the third in 2023 at 9,620, and the fourth in 2024 at 2,783.
The first two coins are no longer available, with final reported sales of 9,884 and 9,941, respectively. Meanwhile, the most recent sales figures show increases of 31 for the third coin, bringing its total to 8,539, and 59 for the fourth, raising its total to 5,192.
2025 Quarters Proof Set Sales Debut
Also released on Feb. 20, the Mint’s proof set of clad quarters honors Ida B. Wells, Juliette Gordon Low, Dr. Vera Rubin, Stacey Park Milbern, and Althea Gibson. Priced at $26.50, the set opened with sales of 29,112.
Last year’s set debuted with 36,108 sales. Still available, it recently increased by 128 to 48,930. The 2023 set started at 40,360 and, also still available, rose by 98 to reach 59,034. The 2022 set introduced the proof quarters series featuring women, launching with 42,368 sales. However, it was effectively sold out from the start, as subscriptions claimed the Mint’s inventory. Its last reported total stands at 42,821.
The new proof quarters set was the Mint’s best-selling product of the week.
Other "Newer" Products
Also newly appearing on the sales boards – one week later than usual – is the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Silver Medal. Released on Feb. 10 for $90, the 1-ounce silver medal has reached 12,471 in sales through Feb. 23.
With the extra days of sales, it "artificially" ranks second on this round’s top-ten list. It would have been a top seller in last week’s sales article had data been available, as medals in the Presidential series typically debut with five-figure sales.
Additionally, on Feb. 4, the U.S. Mint released rolls and bags of Ida B. Wells quarters, with their sales appearing in an article for the first time. However, since first-day sales were available to CoinNews, those figures serve as the basis for comparison with the latest totals listed below. Otherwise, all four roll and bag products would also rank among the week’s top sellers.

*First-day sales, as provided by the Mint, since prior week sales were unavailable.
Gentlemen, let’s not jump all over each other to be the first to get a comment on here.
Absolutely HUGE returns on the 2025 Native American rolls, bags, and boxes. Someone is really abusing the mint return policy!
DaveSWFL,
Those clearly excessive returns weren’t mentioned this time as we would ordinarily have expected them to be in the descriptive article that accompanies the weekly Mint Sales Report; if you hadn’t brought that to my attention, I likely would have missed it entirely. Frankly, as long as the Mint allows its biggest buyers to get away with this sort of egregious misbehavior there will be no compelling reason for them to cease and desist with this long-standing practice.
It is now an Incentuous relationship, only matched by the APs sweetheart deals and purchase of Ltd. Items…
John Q. Coinage,
Another couple of bullseyes for JQC, calling things at the Mint as they are on both counts. Also in that regard, the practice seems to be worsening as evidenced by the recent disregarding of established Mint limits for APs.
I’m somewhat perplexed by a couple things in this report by Mike Uber. The first is, that the US Mint report shows negative numbers across the board for the 2025 Native American $1’s in each product row or product category.(Rolls, bags, boxes) The second, is that there is no mention in his article, in regards to such a noteworthy amount of returns. Ponder…
CaliSkier, I’d say the NA$ negative numbers are a bit dubious. 25NA, 25NB, 25NC, 25ND, 25NE, and 25NF were all released on Jan 28– and cumulative sales are missing from the Feb 2, Feb 9 and Feb 16 Cumulative Sales Reports. My guess is that the initial numbers were provided to Coin News upon its request by the Mint’s Michael White, and we all know how reliable he can be. Consider all of the negative sales numbers initially in the Feb 2 report (as reported by Coin News on Feb 5) and look at those same numbers now in that… Read more »
Or maybe the big boys on the early order program misjudged the demand and dumped them back on the mint.
DaveSWFL, I seriously doubt that any “big boys” are buying much at all of the NA$ or AI$ products. These dollar coins just are not in demand and are tough to sell without taking a hit. So, why would they want them in the first place? If anything, I could see subscription buyers returning shipments that were not cancelled in time or were forgotten about until they arrived in the mail. But those losses would have taken place and been reflected by the third week. Here, we don’t know 1) if the numbers are correct, and 2) if correct, what… Read more »
You’ve brought up a good point, Major D, which is that it’s unclear how many of these are bulk buyer returns and how many are subscription returns. In the final analysis, however, a return is a lost sale, so either reason doesn’t yield a good result for the Mint.
Another fuguly crowded design
DaveSWFL, that’s one of my own biggest vote getters in this regard.
Except, Major D, that the figures, including those for the big Native American Dollar returns, are taken from the Mint’s February 23 sales report. So now I’m perplexed.
Kaiser, the only 2025 NA$ figures that are in any reports right now are in the Feb 23 report. If the initial numbers as reported by Coin News on Feb 5 were wrong (now listed as Old Sales in the article’s table above)- well then perhaps there wasn’t a loss. Consider Coin News reported the 2025 W-Proof ASE to have a loss of 15,143 (Feb 5 article referencing the Feb 2 report), when it turned out it was a gain of 1,979 (after the Mint corrected the report).
Major D,
I must admit that this newly enhanced level of prestidigitation as practiced by the Mint has left me hard-pressed to keep up with either sales or returns. I am always grateful to you for laying out in plain English what exactly transpires in regard to these transactions not only from week to week as such but also from report to report.
White isn’t that the guy that congratulated the Yankees for winning the 2024 World Series
Those, CaliSkier, were precisely my own thoughts and concerns regarding that report.
Two personal observations from this week’s numbers and commentary:
1) the Platinum Eagle might be heading to its lowest mintage ever (below 5,000);
2) Looks like the Marine 3-coin set might beat both of last year’s commems.
Reb in regards to number 1, I believe that is true, however a couple of things are pending of course? How many of the 9,000 Mintage/Product limit did the Mint actually produce? Second, how long or many years will the Mint leave them up on the site? Regarding your second observation, I believe wholeheartedly that, not only will the USMC 3-coin proof set beat out the 2024 Harriet Tubman and 2024 Greatest Generation 3-coin Proof sets, I believe the 2025 USMC Commemorative coin program sales as a whole, will outpace last years commemorative sales across the board in all options… Read more »
Cali, therefore Ventris is calling for an annual Marine Commemorative. Next one for 2026…. 1966-2026 Sixty Year of Gomer Pyle enlistment
That would mean McHale’s Navy and Sgt. Bilko (army) are next.
lol. Man, that’s funny.
REB and CaliSkier, I posted a reply which got held up as Spam. I’m projecting something different on the 2025 Marine Corps. If it doesn’t show up, guess I’ll post again tomorrow.
As for the platinum coin, you are correct. Its status of “for sale by the Mint” could continue for another decade.
The marine commems are the only game in town this year. HT & GG split the spoils last year. Do you think the marines will conquer the combined numbers of last year’s commemoratives?
My only hope for Palladium is that the Mint elects to KEEP its special pricing for this year’s Reverse Proof Eagle. It would be the lowest price I’ve ever paid for one of these buggers. They’ve ranged from $1,850 to $3,350 (YIKES!).
Reb, I do not think that the USMC Commemorative Coin program totals will conquer the combined numbers of last year’s commemoratives.
CaliSkier, I agree that the 2024-W $25 American Palladium Eagle (APdE) Proof, with sales = 3,737 (as of 02/23/2025) is poised to become the lowest mintage for the series, which currently is the 2021-W $25 APdE Proof with mintage = 5,170. Note, the 2021-W $25 APdE Proof had a product/mintage limit = 12,000 and sold out early with a final mintage of 5,170; the 2024-W $25 APdE Proof has a product/mintage limit of 7,500. I think the Mint should soon release its new 2025 Pricing Grid which will reflect the $355 premium/price reduction for the American Eagle 1 oz Palladium… Read more »
Thanks again for some great info, Rich.
Rich, this is pure speculation on my part. However based on the wording in Public Law 111-303: “the Secretary shall mint and issue the palladium coins described in paragraph (12) of subsection (a) in such quantities as the Secretary may determine to be appropriate to meet demand.” The Secretary would only need to determine or, decide or say there is no public demand or not enough public demand and simply stop minting them. I’ve included a link to Public Law 111-303 for convenience if anyone wants to see what was written regarding the “American Eagle Palladium Bullion Coin Act of… Read more »
REB, regarding the 2025-W $100 American Platinum Eagle (APE) Proof, with sales = 2,615 (as of 02/23/2025), possibly being headed to the lowest mintage ever (below 5,000) for the 1-oz Platinum Eagle Proof series (1997-2025), here are the Top 3 lowest mintage $100 APE Proof coins for reference:
2015 mintage = 3,881
2014 mintage = 4,596
2008 mintage = 4,769
Thanks for the correction, Rich. I was only looking at the chart provided above. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if this year’s edition passed ’08 & ’14 to win to dubious silver medal in the race to the bottom.
Let’s just hope that the people doing the mint inventory aren’t put in charge of the Ft. Knox gold audit
DAVESWFL, I second that! Either way, whether it’s all there or not all there, does anyone think they’d come right out and tell us, if it wasn’t all accounted for?
I aniticipate Musk asking to take the Au home for a real count and analysis…..Trump may melt some for use to,lighten hair….
It seems the Porgans leg$ in the aftermarket are slowly shrinking. Mintage #….price….unknown future all play in. Ventris should call Congress and tell them 500k clad half’s is just DUMB
Getting back to CaliSkier from a few threads ago. I’m seeing a lot of variability in who has the lowest price, depending on year and product. For instance, here’s what I found just looking at recent proof sets: Prices as of 2-27-2025: A=APMEX; C=Collectors Alliance; M=Mt. Vernon; P=Palm Island; L=Littleton 2018 Proof Set: (1)$69 P; (2)$73 A; (3)$75 C; (4)$78 M; (5)$99 L 2019 Proof Set w/W: (1)$69 P; (2) $84 A; (3) $90 C; $100 L 2020 Proof Set w/W: (1)$136 A; (2)$140 C; (3)$225 P 2021 Proof Set: (1)$36 M; (2)$39 A; (3)$60 C; (4)$65 P; (5)$80 L… Read more »
I’m not surprised, Major D, that Littleton was turned out to be the most expensive on 4 out of 7 of those sets. Their business model of sending out all of those approval selections must impact quite heavily on their bottom line. After all, from what I’ve been given to understand about that particular sales technique, there seem to be many “customers” who neither return nor elect to pay for the approval items they are provided with; that must be a drain on Littleton’s financial resources.
Will gold hold at 2800 or will we have to go back to 2550 for support?
one thing for sure – Cag was certainly correct when he said gold was CHEAP a year ago October. Up over 50% since then!
I have really enjoyed the first amendment series, because of the trees. The white oak, and oaks in general are a great symbolism of strength and longevity, and a fitting tribute to a set of rights that insure our freedom.
I’ll buy almost any coin with a tree on it, or a train, just a thing.
The art and production of this series was superb, imho.
Probably my last purchase from the mint, until another tree.
Trees by Joyce Kilmer
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

Oh so tired of the American Women’s Quarters
Soon it will be time to say “Sa La Vie”
If there was ever a quarter program for me
I would say “American Astronauts Quarters” so mote it be
It is the American Gods of Space that we must honor
Yet no better place than the Quarter, if it was up to me
The back of the US Quarter, the most honorably place to be

Yes, they are Gods. Some immortal and some still living.
