On Nov. 9, last Thursday, the United States Mint introduced a two-coin set featuring a 2023-S Reverse Proof Morgan Silver Dollar and a 2023-S Reverse Proof Peace Silver Dollar.
Offered for $185 and limited to 250,000, the set lasted for almost exactly 24 hours before becoming unavailable. According to the U.S. Mint’s sales figures through Nov. 12, the total for the set is 220,372.
The Mint also offered the set within its Authorized Bulk Purchase Program, allocating up to 10% of the set’s mintage for the program. However, unlike the earlier released 2023-dated uncirculated and proof options of the Morgan and Peace dollars, the Mint did not report how many sets were sold to bulk buyers.
Elsewhere, sales of the 2023-S Proof American Silver Eagle, released on Oct. 10, declined for a third week in a row. In the latest sales period, the standalone option (product code 23EM) dropped by 2,260 coins for a new, reduced total of 166,682 coins. This option had previously dropped by 11,226 coins in the last week’s sales report and by 2,041 coins in the week prior.
Meanwhile, the 40-coin option for authorized bulk buyers (product code 23EM040) was unchanged at 743 units, which equates to 29,720 coins.
Total sales of the 2023-S Proof American Silver Eagle, including both options, have reached 196,402 coins.

In its latest report, the U.S. Mint published sales data for 367 numismatic products.
Among these products, 69 outperformed their sales from the previous week, compared to 103 in the prior report. Excluding the new set, 6 products experienced an increase of more than 1,000 units, whereas only 3 did in the previous report.
Meanwhile, 2 products experienced a decline in weekly sales, compared to 5 in the prior report. Including the already mentioned 2023-S Proof Silver Eagle, the 2023-P, D & S Maria Tallchief Quarters Three-Roll Set retreated by 14 units.

I think the reverse set WILL remain in high demand as it is a touch stone for the series( first time for these coin series and, based on what ive read and seen…stunning in appearance). No surprise it did sell out, thankfully subscriptions were offered. Now that being said, i think this year, due to price increases with all the coins out of mint, i will be dropping subscriptions to everything except the reverse proof morgan and peace and the proof s silver eagle.
the other coins in the series still available. totally too many made. selling out in almost exactly 24 hours, tells me the bulk buyers snatched em up after the limit removed.
Perhaps, or maybe, they already had them since the mint did not release those numbers. These might be other coins over the authorized limit. Regardless they are nice coins.
220k showed sold. 10% would be 25000, so 245,000. Leaving 5k or 2% not sold. I deduce that only 1 sales figures and no previous sales, plus the 24 hour sell out and article 2 days later. Maybe 5,000 request for refund. Guess Tuesday we might know better.
Agree with you, Dazed, too many pressed to be anything other than something needed to complete your collection of modern Morgans/Peace Dollars. I received one set for this purpose and wonder how many individuals there are that even want to collect a complete set of these issues. I wonder if Magic Mike or the Coin Vault boys will start to sell these as complete sets, you know, with the ‘our obligation, your opportunity’ bs with regard to a set price per coin for each year issued. They are indeed beautiful looking coins and I’m glad I got my one set.

Never thought I would own proof Morgan’s and Peace dollars let alone reverse proofs. They may be moderns but these are about the best I’ve seen from the mint.
Hello everyone. I am a fairly new collector (last 7 years or so) and have followed/collated most of the modern US mint releases these last 7 years. I’m also a fairly “young” collector in my early 30’s that the mint should want to keep happy and interested. (They should want to keep everyone loyal, just pointing out I’m their stated “target audience”.). I received 5 of the new 2023 Morgan/Peace Reverse Proof Sets and has blue strings, milk spotting, and scuffs on 3 of my sets. Sorry you’re not pleased w/some of your sets Benjamin G. Have you separated the capsules to take out that blue string? If that’s the only problem w/that one it’s an easy fix. Of course scuffs and milk spotting on coins can’t be rectified.
Yeah, the Mint is the U.S. Gubmint so like calling any Federal office you’ll get the same reception.
Welp at least you got a couple of good sets (maybe three if you just take out the blue string).

I have heard recent coins were bad. And with markups it is harder to justify purchases. I’ll probably grab three army medal and a couple coins next year, but way less than I got this year, which is way less than prior years. Passed on the palladium and platinum and gold tree and Buffalo. Leave those to the deep pocker people. I still can’t believe how much gold seems suppressed, but they claim China has double the amount reported. If true I would think that would crash the price a bit.
These are still available at US Mint stores, at least the one in downtown DC had a drawer full of them Wednesday 11/15
I have a feeling many more will be made available on the mint’s website as the big boys send back the 69’s. I’ll pick a set up at a coin show in a couple of years.
Really happy with my new Morgan and Peace dollars Reverse Proof set and now I’m thinking of buying a 2nd graded PF70 set on fleecebay. I don’t think the value of these sets will go down in the future due to the limited run and their beauty, especially the Peace dollar (gorgeous).
Received my sets last week. Opened 1 the rest go in the safe unopened. The 1 I did open looks good through my loop.
Have pulled most of my subscriptions back this year and decided to go mostly with bullion bars.
Really enjoy the feedback on this site and hope it continues with Kaiser gone.
