New Native American $1 Coins logged solid early sales, the latest batch of U.S. Mint figures show, although their levels declined a bit from the debut performance of last year’s dollar.

The series features annually changing designs with the latest coin commemorating Sequoyah, a silversmith and creator of the Cherokee language.
Collectors ordered a combined 999,975 coins through roll, bag and box options, registering a 1.8% decrease from the opening of last year’s issue. Here’s a table that illustrates how starting sales of the series has varied since its introduction in 2009:

The U.S. Mint published sales data for 253 numismatic products. Eighty-nine of them outperformed their prior weekly gains compared to 96 previously. Six of them increased by more than 1,000 units compared to 4 previously.
Eleven products also saw their sales total reduced compared to 16 previously. As typical, most of them logged modest declines. The centennial 2016-W Walking Liberty Gold Coin saw a more aggressive adjustment, falling 479 to 60,331.
