US Mint Gold Coin Pricing Cuts Possible on Wed., Nov. 30

The U.S. Mint on Wednesday may trim prices on gold coins, like the newly released centennial 2016-W Walking Liberty Gold Half-Dollar

On Wednesday, Nov. 30, the United States Mint may reduce prices on its suite of collector gold coins by as much as $50 for every ounce of gold they contain.

The agency’s collections of numismatic gold coins have prices that can change weekly depending on the trending value of gold. The U.S. Mint most recently cut prices on Nov. 16 when the average for gold slipped between $1,200.00 and $1,249.99 an ounce. The precious metal has since hit a more than 9-1/2-month low and is now trading near $1,187 an ounce.

If the Wednesday PM LBMA gold price remains below $1,200 an ounce, then coin prices will fall. The following table lists the current and possible prices:

The U.S. Mint made nine pricing changes earlier in the year, raising them in all but three instances. Past adjustments have tended to happen on Wednesdays at around 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time. This article will be updated with what actually happens.

Price cuts are as predicted.

If gold ounce drops another $30 for a week then these 1/2 ounce Gold Walkers will be priced at $50 below their $865 launch price.

Gold ounce price is down 8% in November 2016.
