2015 Proof American Gold Buffalo
The U.S. Mint’s 24-karat 2015 Proof American Buffalo gold coin launches on Thursday

New U.S. and world coins debut this week. On Monday, the Perth Mint of Australia will introduce over a dozen coins to include designs featuring Disney’s Aurora, the Kookaburra, Sunburnt Country, the minmi dinosaur, and more. On Thursday, the United States Mint will offer its collectible proof American Gold Buffalo from West Point.

New coins from the Royal Canadian Mint are also coming. The Mint’s Master Club Members can already pre-order more than a dozen, and those should be available to everyone within days.

We’ll talk more about these products on their release day. Until then, here are last week’s five most read articles:

  1. 2015 Canadian Five-Coin Series Depicts Colorful Songbirds – 99.99% pure silver and the most colorful songbirds in North America are showcased in a new 5-coin subscription from the Royal Canadian Mint. Subscription to the Mint’s 2015 Colorful Songbirds of Canada series guarantees delivery of all five coins when they are released.

  2. 2015 Proof Set Photos and Debut Sales – The United States Mint last week released its 2015 Proof Set for $32.95. This short article presents a photo overview of the set of 14 clad coins which notched six-day opening sales 232,107 — the quickest start in three years. Annually issued for decades, these sets are always a sales leader among U.S. Mint collectible products.

  3. Chinese Ancient Mythical Creatures on 5 Oz Silver Coin – Four Chinese ancient mythical creatures circle a yingyang symbol on a new five-ounce, high-relief silver coin from the Perth Mint of Australia. Limited to 1,000 and struck in 99.9% pure silver to collector proof quality, the silver coin’s designs are struck on concave surfaces to maximize their details.

  4. US Mint Bullion Sales Quicken in March – Demand soundly strengthened for American Eagle gold and silver bullion coins in March compared to February, United States Mint sales figures show, but the two bullion series logged mixed results compared to a year ago. U.S. Mint coin sales competed against a strained bullion market for the month with gold futures off 2.5% and silver futures edging up 0.2%.

  5. 2016 Reagan Dollar Design Recommended by CCAC and CFA – Design recommendations have been voiced for the 2016 Presidential $1 Coin honoring Ronald Reagan, the 40th President of the United States. Artists for the U.S. Mint crafted eight candidate designs for the dollar coin. These went under review by the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) on March 5.
