Royal Canadian Mint’s Newest 2011-2012 Collector Coins Revealed
As Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II prepares to celebrate an unprecedented 60 years as Canada's monarch and after "The Great One" reached a new milestone by turning 50 in 2011, the Royal Canadian Mint is excited to release an array of collector coins based on these and other distinctly Canadian themes.
The countdown to Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee is being marked by several 2012-dated coins: a $300 face value 99.999% pure gold featuring the world's first genuine diamond insert; a 99.99% pure 1/10 ounce gold coin and a $20 fine silver coin featuring the Royal Cypher; and a $20 fine silver coin featuring the profiles of Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Philip.

NGC President Visits Universal Coin & Bullion
Rick Montgomery, President of Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (www.NGCcoin.com), visited the offices of Universal Coin & Bullion (www.UniversalCoin.com) in Beaumont, Texas on October 6, 2011 to meet with the company's sales staff and discuss the importance of third-party authentication and grading for consumer confidence and assets liquidity in the numismatic marketplace.
He explained the processes NGC uses to evaluate coins, and said his company now is examining an average of 125,000 coins each month. He also said NGC is working to remove from the marketplace counterfeits being made in China and sold in the United States [...]
US Mint Resumes Selling Silver Eagles and ATB 5 Oz Coins...
The United States Mint on Friday, October 7, cut prices and then resumed selling its line of numismatic silver products. The proof and uncirculated American Silver Eagles and the two latest America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins had been suspended on Monday, September 26.
The suspensions were triggered due to the rapid fall in silver prices. The metal has since "stabilized" around the $30 an ounce range, or about $10 lower than where it had been during the first three weeks of September [...]

2010-2011 US Mint Last Chance Products Include Sets, Rolls and Commemoratives
The United States Mint on Wednesday, October 5, added a new last chance products page to its online store entitled "Last Opportunity."
The last chance products includes a variety of 2010, 2011 and even a couple of 2009-dated offerings like proof and mint sets, quarter rolls, dollar rolls, and commemorative coins that celebrate the establishment of the U.S. Army and the Medal of Honor.

Gold Rises 0.7%, Silver Prices Rally 5.4%
Gold advanced Thursday for a second straight day while silver prices soared to above $32 an ounce as U.S. stocks and commodities rallied.
Gold prices rose $11.60, or 0.7 percent, to close at $1,653.20 an ounce in the December futures contract on the Comex in New York. Gold moved from an intraday low of $1,633.20 to a high of $1,656.80 [...]

Lower precious metals have spurred United States Mint sales of investment-grade bullion coins but they have been detrimental, along with resulting coin suspensions, to collector silver products.
The Mint suspended silver products on Monday, September 26, when silver tumbled $10+ to below $30 an ounce. The latest United States Mint sales figures show totals lower than last week's report for each of the suspended silver coins.
