US Mint Sales: Gold Coin Buying Retreats

0

2011 Uncirculated American Gold Eagle CoinHealthier week-over-week increases were realized across nearly 30 United States Mint products, according to the bureau's latest sales figures. But there was also weakness in many gold coins and almost a dozen issues had their sales totals trimmed.

The uncirculated American Gold Eagle and Eliza Johnson First Spouse Gold Coins moved slow during their first full week of availability. The Gold Eagle advanced [...]

In the Lead – Sex, Lies and Ticker Tape

Bullion BarsSpot gold dealings opened near the $1,491 mark in New York this morning, losing about $6 per ounce while the rest of the complex showed marginal gains at the start of the Thursday trading session.

Elliott Wave updates issues late yesterday still indicate that if gold can manage a push towards higher than the $1,500 level (one which, thus far, has proven to be a bit of a problem to break above) one might even see [...]

0

Fine Gold BarsU.S gold futures rallied Wednesday, breaking away from a three-session losing streak. Silver prices soared 4.8 percent to above $35 an ounce, its first increase since Friday. Gains were attributed to inflation fears, European debt-woes and rising oil prices.

June gold prices rose $15.80, or 1.1 percent, to $1,495.80 an ounce on the Comex in New York. Gold touched a low of 1,484.60 and a high of [...]

2011 Proof American Buffalo Gold

2011 Proof American Buffalo GoldThe United States Mint on Wednesday cut the prices on all its collector gold coins in response to falling gold prices over the previous week.

Unlike the investment-grade gold coins that are sold for small premiums above the latest spot price of gold at the time, the United States Mint has a policy to adjust its numismatic gold coin prices up to once a week based on a weekly average of the precious metal [...]

Wednesday Kitcommentary – “This Time is… No Different.”

Bullion BarsPrecious metals once again attempted to recover as the daily New York trading action got underway on Wednesday. Albeit the US dollar showed little in the way of gains (rising 0.16 on the trade-weighted index to 75.40) it also showed no tendencies to ease much below its recent multi-week highs for the time being.

Crude oil led the charge this morning, rising more than $1.20 per barrel and the enthusiasm for black gold spilled over into the silver pits where a 1.68% gain was seen in the early part of the trading morning in New York [...]

Fine Gold BarsU.S gold futures retreated 0.7 percent and for a third straight session Tuesday, pressured by a stronger dollar and a general sell-off in commodities. Silver led in precious metals declines, falling 1.9 percent. Platinum and palladium bucked the trend. Each rose a modest 0.1 percent.

June gold prices declined $10.60 to settle at $1,480.00 an ounce on the Comex in New York. Gold traded between $1,471.10 and $1,497.50 [...]

Yellowstone National Park Silver Uncirculated CoinThe United States Mint at noon ET launched the Yellowstone National Park 5 Oz Silver Uncirculated Coin with little to no reported incidents. The Yellowstone coin is priced at $279.95 and has a mintage limit of 27,000, like all of the 2010-dated strikes that will be sold in 2011.

Those who placed online orders early did experience some processing slowness, but not to the level seen during the first few hours of the [...]

Tuesday Kitcommentary – “Just Curious, George…”

Bullion BarsTentative rebounds in precious metals took place during the overnight hours as a bit of dollar softness brought out a few bargain hunters in the physical markets.

Talk that a Portuguese bailout had been endorsed by European finance officials and that Greece might be offered some type of "soft" restructuring deal bolstered a few additional bids in gold but the yellow metal was as yet unable to firmly reestablish itself above the $1,500 mark. Following the past two weeks of aggressive selling, questions continue to swirl around in the market regarding where prices might be headed next, and why [...]
