Gold Prices Settle 1.5% Higher, Silver Rises Modestly

Gold, Silver, Metal Prices Commentary for Nov. 23, 2010
Geopolitical turmoil made an unwelcome reappearance on the scene overnight as North Korea's 200-plus artillery shells landed on South Korean territory and prompted return fire as well as the scrambling of the latter's fighter jets.
Gold prices were initially held in check as attempts to build on geopolitically induced gains were countervailed by mounting weakness in the euro. That was true up to a point only, however. Gold has historically shown strong bids in the wake of projectiles flying between countries, and this morning was no different [...]

Gold, Silver, Metal Prices Commentary for Nov. 19, 2010
Spot gold bullion dealings opened their final session of the week trending lower despite a relatively flat US dollar (at 78.50 on the index, showing only a 0.03% decline), but with an eye towards the implications of China's on-going resolve to quarantine and (at least partially) neutralize the inflation bogey.
Gold was quoted at $1,348.40 per ounce (a loss of $5.10) as the market opened for what might once again turn out to be a choppy and unpredictable session [...]
