With its May 31 weekly sales report now available after an atypical delay, the U.S. Mint has posted first totals for two closely watched 1776 ~ 2026 Semiquincentennial products: the Enduring Liberty half dollar and the Enhanced Uncirculated American Gold Eagle. Together, they accounted for the Mint’s three best-selling numismatic products of the week.
Released on May 28 for $5,370, the Mint’s first enhanced uncirculated gold coin, shown in detail in CoinNews photos, lasted less than two minutes before it was listed as “Currently Unavailable,” with a “Remind Me” option for alerts if more become available. Mint sales through May 31 placed its total at 7,139, or 95.2% of its 7,500-coin limit.
The new week’s sales report is expected to be available on schedule Tuesday, June 9, offering the first follow-up total and showing whether the coin moves closer to that ceiling.
1776 ~ 2026 Half Dollar Sales
The Mint ramped up product limits for rolls and bags containing Enduring Liberty half dollars, the first 50-cent pieces without President John F. Kennedy’s portrait since 1964. Released May 26, the options combined for nearly 9.5 million coins sold through May 31. By product, sales included:
- Two-roll sets at 85,882, or 85.9% of the 100,000 limit
- 200-coin bags at 30,288, or 60.6% of the 50,000 limit
Both options remain available, though both are on backorder, with shipping dates ranging from Sept. 16 for rolls to Oct. 7 for bags.
For perspective, the strongest start for Kennedy half dollars in the past 15 years came in 2022, when opening roll and bag sales reached a combined 3,079,800 coins.
2026 Congratulations Set / 2026-P Proof Silver Eagle Over Stated Mintage
Reported sales of the 2026 Congratulations Set, which contains the 2026-P Proof American Silver Eagle, are 99 above its stated 60,000 mintage limit. Released Feb. 26, the set lasted only minutes before its initial inventory was depleted. After being unavailable for more than two months, it returned intermittently and has ranked among the Mint’s top sellers for four straight weeks — this time 14th, after rising 106 to 60,099.
Priced at $175, the set features the first standard, non-privy Philadelphia proof American Silver Eagle since 2000. Its mintage is significantly lower than the 500,000 authorized for this year’s dual-dated West Point edition.

In its latest report, the Mint published sales data for 655 numismatic products. The three new products each opened above 1,000 units, while no existing product posted a week-over-week gain of more than 1,000 units, compared with one in the prior report.
Sales momentum increased, with 82 products outpacing their prior weekly gains, up from 57 in the previous report. Earlier totals were 70, 95, 67, 29, 72, 77, 34, 80, 74, 57, 39, 87, 70, 56, 43, 79, 23, and 106.

Eight products registered week-over-week declines, down from 10 in the prior reporting period. Those with declines of more than two included:
- 2026-P Revolutionary War Quarters 100-Coin Bag — down 5 to 8,357
- 2026 P&D Mayflower Compact Quarters Two-Roll Set — down 10 to 10,330
- 2026-P California American Innovation 100-Coin Bag — down 10 to 3,793
- 2026 Emerging Liberty Dime 200-Coin Bag — down 12 to 10,063
