Military and coin enthusiasts will be drawn to the United States Mint’s latest product, the 250th Anniversary U.S. Navy 2025-S Proof American Silver Eagle, launching today at noon ET.

Struck at the San Francisco Mint, the coin bears a United States Navy privy mark on its obverse to honor the service’s 250th anniversary.
The Navy traces its origins to October 13, 1775, when the Continental Congress authorized two armed vessels to challenge British forces. It has since remained a vital part of the nation’s military strength.
Two other Silver Eagles with special privy marks were issued earlier this year. They include the 250th Anniversary U.S. Army 2025-W Proof American Silver Eagle, released in June, and the 2025-W Proof American Silver Eagle with Laser Privy Mark, introduced in August. Both had identical mintages and prices to the Navy issue, are now unavailable, and are selling at premiums on the secondary market. Today’s Navy edition will be followed in November by the 250th Anniversary U.S. Marine Corps 2025-P Proof American Silver Eagle.

The Navy Silver Eagle is nearly identical to other issues in the series, featuring Adolph A. Weinman’s classic Walking Liberty design.

First used on the 1916–1947 half dollar, the design shows Liberty in stride, draped in the flag, her right hand extended and branches of laurel and oak in her left. It returned with the launch of the American Silver Eagle series in 1986 and has appeared ever since. In 2021, the Mint refined the image using historical assets and modern technology to better reflect Weinman’s original vision.
The only difference in today’s release is the addition of the Navy emblem privy mark.
The reverse illustrates an eagle coming in for a landing, carrying an oak branch as if to add it to a nest. The design by artist Emily Damstra and sculpted by Michael Gaudioso replaced John Mercanti’s original heraldic eagle, which appeared on the coin from the series’ 1986 debut through 2021. Reverse inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR."

The 21st Century Gold secular bull market time frames for the doubling of gold prices over the last 26 years, based on average Monthly LBMA Gold Prices (LBMA, 2025).
Jul. 1999 ~ $250 (= $256)
Dec. 2005 ~ $500 (= $509)
Sep. 2009 ~ $1,000 (= $996)
Apr. 2023 ~ $2,000 (= $1,999)
Oct. 2025 ~ $4,000 (= $3,950 as of 10/10/2025)
Gold $250 to $500: doubling in 6.5 years
Gold $500 to $1,000: doubling in 3.75 years
Gold $1,000 to $2,000: doubling in 13.5 years
Gold $2,000 to $4,000: doubling in 2.5 years
Thanks for the numbers/time frames Rich! I wonder if we are in for another doubling in 3.25 years from $4,000 to $8,000? I suspect, it could easily happen, based on the rate everything else continues to rise in price. After all, no one could argue that $8,000 will buy a whole lot of anything in 3.5-4 years from now?
After all, a $5 spot in the 1980’s is like a $20 today.
Your welcome, Cali. WRT to the possibility for another doubling in 3.25 years from $4,000 to $8,000, I noticed E 1 also remarked Gold could double and then hit a wall. Around a hundred years ago, W. D. Gann famously wrote, “Time is the most important factor.” and “Time is more important than price. When time is up price will reverse.” Gann emphasized a Major 50-year Time Cycle, which predicted the year 1980 as the historical pivotal turning point for gold and silver (and inflation and interest rates), i.e., gold’s extreme high price, silver’s extreme high price, lowest gold-to-silver ratio,… Read more »
Tomorrow Silver will be $55 an ounce.
Currently $52.87
At the time I made that post, silver looked like it would make $55. Since then, the price dropped and then rose again. I’ve read some countries have stopped silver sales. I have two more silver purchases from the U.S. Mint this year. So far I don’t see price increases for them.
Over 234 comments on TWO PAGES – guess that shows you what can happen when precious metal prices blow up.

“US Mint YouTube recent relevant video –“
“Not letting me post the link – worth 3 minutes to view,
Break, Break,
How do post links like YouTube so it doesn’t go into ‘Awaiting for approval’ ?”
Here’s the video he was referring to, which is Acting Director Kristie McNally talking about the ASE w/Navy and Marine Corps Privy coins.(YT channel, USMINT)
https://m.youtube.com/watch?
KC&SO, I’m not sure what I did differently from your attempt? Only thing I did was copy and paste the URL from my browser, after going to and loading the YT video. I also used the suggestion that E1 had previously suggested and deleted all text occurring after the ?. Not sure though that was the solution to your getting put into “awaiting approval/spam folder though. PS. Thanks again E1 for tip on shortening a link!
Well I guess maybe we’ll try again, with the stuff after the ?. Link obviously did not load. The channel is USMINT and the video title is: “Navy and Marine Corps 250th Anniversary Announcement”. PS Thank E1 for the Tome Petty tune, as it rocked and I was unfamiliar with it! We all love your Jams!
PSS 2nd times a charm and this video link will take you to the video KC&SO mentioned.

Cali: thanks! Worked for me….

E1 is there a trick getting video’s to post with the image? I’m using my IPhone and have tried every which way to get links to display similarly, with no luck? I’ve downloaded, saved in notes, saved in photos, etc, etc, however nothing but script? I know technically they do the same thing, I just like the way the ones you post display with the image! Thanks as always for the media you share here! PS I’ve even sent to myself in a text message and e-mail, yet nada?
Cali, If the shortened script is the only thing that gets pasted into the text box, then the video picture shows. Also, paste the script as plain text only.
Thanks E1, appreciate your suggestion, however apparently this doesn’t work on my IPhone. Interesting, is that it will show the video picture, when “texting”, however not in an e-mail or when attempting to post. No biggie, as I said, it just looks better if the video picture shows IMO. Cheers
Cali, When I post a video script, it will just show the script text right after the Post. Then I need to refresh the browser and the video picture appears.
Cali, For Youtube – Everything from “&List” to the right should be removed from the URL, including the “&.” For eBay – Everything from “?_” to the right should be removed from the URL, including the “?.” This not only makes the link shorter, it removes account information, tracking information, and site recommendations. Again, paste “Only” the shortened URL in the CN comment box as “Plain Text.” After pressing the “Post Comment” button, allow the post process to complete itself. The shortened URL should appear on the blog in text form. Then refresh the page with the browser “Refresh” button… Read more »
Saw this morning that a major investor opened a $500m short on Bitcoin…….shortly thereafter the US Treasury used a seized $74.5m bitcoin wallet to shore up bitcoin……strange times indeed. Personally I don’t hold any crypto….but the precious metals and crypto values seem interconnected at this point. I long for simpler times….but they are gone with the wind like $300/oz gold and $4/oz silver….
These times are a changing for sure HarryB and although only 56 y/o, I also find myself wishing for simpler times of old. BTW, for any interested, the Navy Privy was available again this morning, however just like yesterday as KC&SO noted, the waiting room was implemented. So no ability to see inventory, nor get on the site before they were gone. REB being 17-0 and seemingly getting onto the site previously first thing, seems to indicate, one might need a powerful computer, better network connection(?) or some other technological advantage, besides a cell phone? Also, with this price of… Read more »
