2026 Year of the Horse 1 oz Gold Proof Coin
Lunar coins are an annual staple from the Mint, with the 2026 Year of the Horse 1 oz Gold Proof Coin appearing as one of the latest issues of the Australian Lunar Series III. Each 99.99% pure gold coin features a striking image of a horse set against a mountainous background on its reverse (tails side). To the left of the design by Ing Ing Jong are the inscriptions HORSE, 2026, and the Chinese character for horse. The obverse (heads side) effigy of King Charles III was created by Dan Thorne and is surrounded by inscriptions noting the coin’s weight, fineness, and denomination.
Maximum mintage: 2,500; Issue limit: 1,000.
2026 Year of the Horse Silver Proof Three-Coin Set
A different horse design by Ing Ing Jong graces the reverse of the coins in the 2026 Year of the Horse Silver Proof Three-Coin Set, depicting a mare and her foal. Inscriptions read HORSE, 2026, and the Chinese character for horse. The obverse shows a left-facing portrait of King Charles III.
All three coins are struck from 99.99% pure silver in 2 oz, 1 oz, and 1/2 oz sizes. Mintages are capped at 2,000, 7,500, and 5,000, respectively, with an overall issue limit of 1,000 sets.
