Whitman Publishing has announced the upcoming release of Kids Love Coins!, a new picture book designed to introduce children to the basics of coin collecting. Geared toward readers ages 3 and up, the 32-page title blends playful rhymes with educational content, aiming to spark early interest in numismatics.

The book is co-authored by Charles Ghigna – known to many as Father Goose® – and Andi Martin, with illustrations by Jacqueline East. Topics range from Lincoln cents to Kennedy half dollars, including what coins are made of, who appears on them, where they are minted, and how to identify parts of a coin. Simple terminology and full-color illustrations guide young readers through the essentials of the hobby.

Creative Director Matt Jeffirs also praised the illustrations, noting their ability to capture the "spirit of childhood discovery and wonder."
Kids Love Coins! marks a renewed effort by Whitman to engage young audiences. In the early 2000s, the company’s Dalmatian Press imprint produced a successful line of children’s titles, including coloring books and activity-driven literature.
Ghigna, a prolific author with more than 250 books to his name, previously collaborated with Whitman on Alabama My Sweet Home, a bicentennial-themed children’s book published in 2018.

The new release arrives ahead of the United States’ 250th anniversary in 2026, a milestone that has already prompted increased interest in American history and coinage.
