The United States Mint has announced pricing for its Comic Art Coin & Medal Program. Developed in partnership with DC Comics, the multi-year series will feature three characters annually over three years – nine designs in total – beginning with Superman.

Designs for the Superman gold coin and silver medals were unveiled earlier this year, and the Mint conducted a ceremonial striking of the first medal on April 22. Pre-sales begin July 24, with shipments expected in early fall.
Superman Gold Coin and Medal Prices
Product options include a 24-karat gold coin and silver medals struck in 2.5-ounce and 1-ounce sizes of .999 fine silver. The silver medals are priced at $275 and $135, respectively.
The $50 gold coin, struck in proof finish and composed of a half an ounce of .9999 fine gold, will have its initial price set the day before release, on July 23. Its cost will be based on market conditions and may be updated weekly under the Mint’s recently revised pricing grid, which tracks the average London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) gold price. For example, if gold remains in the current $3,300.00 to $3,349.99 range at launch – the bracket currently used to price the Mint’s other gold collector coins – the Superman coin would debut at $2,670.
For comparison, the U.S. Mint’s 2025-W $25 Proof American Gold Eagle, also struck in one-half ounce of gold, is currently priced at $2,125. The similarly spec’d 2025-W Proof Sacagawea 25th Anniversary Gold Coin, set to launch July 31, would be priced at $2,175 under the same pricing tier.
