PNG Membership Reaches Record High

When John Feigenbaum became the full-time Executive Director of the Professional Numismatists Guild (PNGdealers.org) in August 2023 he declared one of his major goals was to change what he described as the "unfair perception that the PNG is an exclusive organization with its doors open to only a few, powerful dealers."

His efforts to make other dealers feel welcome and join the influential organization have been overwhelmingly successful. PNG membership is now at an all-time high with 319 members in the United States and four other countries.

More than 60 new members have joined in the past two years, the highest growth period in the organization’s 70-year history.

"To protect consumers, the hobby, and the profession, PNG membership requirements are strict. Before being admitted as full (Gold Level) members, applicants are vetted for their experience, reputation, and financial stability," explained Feigenbaum.

"Also, all members must follow our rigorous Code of Ethics (PNGdealers.org/ethics). It is a pledge to other dealers and collectors alike that PNG members hold the highest standards in their dealings," he emphasized.

Among the organization’s programs, PNG hosts exclusive buying and selling opportunities at several major shows across the country, provides consumer education for collectors and investors, and the PNG nexGen program offers hands-on training and mentoring for young, aspiring dealers.

A list of programs for potential members, as well as the membership categories, are online at PNGdealers.org/join. For additional information, contact the Professional Numismatists Guild by phone at 951-587-8300 or by email at info@PNGdealers.org.

For those who apply for the first time, a special discount is available for Gold Level membership. Many of the activities and incentives are underwritten courtesy of our elite sponsors, including NGC, PMG, A-Mark, JM Bullion, Stack’s Bowers, RARCOA, and eBay.

The PNG Membership Directory is available online at  PNGdealers.org/af_memberDirectory_Custom.asp.

Here is a state-by-state listing of new PNG members who joined during the past two years.

Bam… On January 26, 2025, on CoinNews.Net I posted: I Hope the grid pricing for Gold, Platinum and Palladium will be replaced. The Gold grid is antiquated. I Hope they separate the three. I Hope the way Gold is determined weekly is changed. Get rid of the static incremental pricing and go with a percentage based pricing. Use floors. No ceilings. Increase grid pricing Significantly. I am Hoping for a $300.00/ounce Increase (starting point for LBMA Gold of $2,800.00) for the one ounce Gold. I am Hoping for a $550.00/ounce Increase (starting point for LBMA Gold of $2,800.00) for the… Read more »

5.Get rid of the static incremental pricing and go with a percentage based pricing.

The Federal Register for 07/01/2025 shows Gold grid pricing from $3250.00 to $3600.00.

Only looking at the The Comic Art ½ oz. 24k Gold, and you will observe that ALL pricing is ~ 162%…

Cag: yep….I was surprised a new gold pricing structure wasn’t announced first of the year…gold numismatic products from the Mint will be a true luxury in the future.

Rick

HarryB,

The USM will have a Luxury Line of Numismatic Gold Products.
I think you’re on to something there.
Maybe they’ll have a “Discount Rack” for the bargain hunters lol

The first six months of 2025 have ended. The USD Index experienced its worst first half of any year since 1973, when Nixon was President.

·      USD Index on 12/31/2024: 108.49
·      USD Index on 06/30/2025: 96.88 (Down 10.7%)

A previous post mentioned “disinvestment in US assets causing the dollar index drop”. This statement is inaccurate.

Here’s one that I CAN tell what it looks like. It looks like a $35,250 buy now coin on Heritage.

Good Luck getting one of these in PCGS “Advanced Release” or “First Day of Issue” this year. The last piece to my 61 year old puzzle – finally. Sold out on eBay today. Gone, gone, gone by all sellers. The 2025 S Silver Proof Set is due out August 7th from the Mint.

Cheers

E1,
Did you pre-order yours? I’ll bet you did because I know you and these FDI’s go hand-in-hand! I think these Silver Proof sets are going to sell very well.
The Bigs(25RHAB) are obviously in on these, how many do they have on their Mint orders to be? The Bigs can start ordering these sets on 7/25 to the 29th, and after that date, I suspect more of the FDI pre-sales will come to market once the Bigs orders are completed…
There are 165k+ 25RH sets currently available according to the .gov site…

E 1

Rick,

Yes, it was a pre-sale order. I just didn’t want to get caught short on this particular coin. As was the case with the 2012-S Silver Kennedy. At this point, no fuss-no muss, and it’s a done deal. 165K is a low mintage wonder for the series and could end up being a key coin. I think this is my third PCGS Proof Silver Kennedy presale from our friends in Sarasota.

Cheers

On Topic: I hate to say it, however exactly what I’m about to say regarding the PNG, is what initially came to mind. By making entry and access into the PNG more inviting and possibly easier, they’ll likely unintentionally lower the standards, thereby increasing the likelihood of potential bad actors being allowed to join the PNG. Without adequate oversight, this will backfire IMO and end up costing consumers as well as the hobby, by allowing more opportunity for wolves to hide amongst the Big Horn Sheep. This has and is actually happening or occurring right before our(my) very eyes. Opening… Read more »

Silence is condoning their actions. PLEASE report the shady dealer.

REB 1893 CC MS63 x 2, Well it’s a tough one, both have their ups & downs imo. I’m not an expert, but I’ll opine and you can go from there. PS-there are some others over at Heritage for auction too? I like that both are 63’s from the same TPG. It’s too bad that GC has no ”Great Photo”(the nice dual image) for either coins. The 93 CC is rumored to be notorious for excessive bag marks, so there’s that. How much marking can be tolerated/accepted? It’s up to us and our personal tastes. The same can be said… Read more »

All decent coins E1 – thanks.
Be careful with the 64(I like it best), but there is no guarantee that you’ll get the pictured coin(I don’t like that), read the ‘blue’ print…

E 1

Rick,

I’m just surprised that you guys aren’t chasing DMPLs.

Talk about a crazy beautiful CC Morgan.

Strike that. I just read the blue print.

REB,

You’re gonna have to enlighten me on this “Blue Print” thing.

E 1

Max Sterling’s Coin Blueprint?

Rick

E1, we had read the note(in blue) from the seller- the 4th picture down in the link ⇓.They don’t guarantee that you get the coin pictured = Bad.

You’re right, you can’t go wrong with a good DMPL Morgan. I’ve got too many commons, it might be time to upgrade a few of them. I do have one ’84 CC in a 64 DMPL, and one ’84-O in 66+ PL – nice coin ⇓….

Rick,

Got it. Yes, an instant disqualifier for me too. Especially at $25k. I usually spend a day or two studying and contemplating any eBay coin before making any purchase. I just saw a number of 1893 CCs in MS63. Tried to help.

“You will receive the nicest of two or more, not necessarily the imaged coin. All handpicked for eye.” Sketchy at best – avoid. PNG Member?

Nice 1884-O!

Or a Poke bowl with a coin in it

Yup, a “Poke Bowl” for sure.

Man, you’re good at this stuff. Thanks for the input, Rick.

Rick

No prob REB, and thanks.
Just an opinion, and glad to help you ‘see’ the coins from a different perspective.

Rick

Here is another photo of the lustrous, non stickered 93-CC. Taken 9 years ago by SBG fyi. ⇊

As far as the 1893-S Morgan, well, anything in an AU holder is better than having one in an AU/Details holder – and there’s a lot of details/genuine holdered 93-S’s out there, the 93-S is on my wish list, and I’ve been occasionally looking.

That’s a nice one REB(the AU53), boy are they expensive – and rare….

Well, he was definitely “Bad Company” until the day he died! Thanks E1 for the “Ready for Love” jam in a previous post 11 days ago, however ironically just 3 short days after your post, another classic rocker joins the “great ones” playing at the ”Pearly Gates” venue! “Michael(Mick) Geoffrey Ralphs was an English guitarist, vocalist and songwriter. He was a founding member of English rock bands Mott the Hoople and Bad Company. Despite not being a constant member, he appeared on every studio album released by both bands.” March 31, 1944(UK) – June 23, 2025. A bit of unknown… Read more »

I remember being at licorice Pizza when they proudly announced a new record released from band on the same record label and “discovered” by Led Zeppelin, swan song. Well, they put on Bad Company when I heard that first lick of the song bad company I was hooked. Straight Shooters! Mott the Hoople had some awesome songs, Bowie wrote All The Young Dudes for them….

CaliSkier

That is Super cool John Q! I was just 4 y/o and this was well before I began to know anything about music besides what my Mom was listening to. She was big into Roberta Flack, Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Tina Turner, Gloria Gaynor, Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole, and basically anything R&B followed up with a bit of disco! She loved The Bee Gees and had the “hots” for Barry Gibb! I started to develop a taste for Rock in 1976-1978… All of what now, is considered “Classic Rock”! Those were the days!!!

E 1

Cali,

Roberta Flack – She was a true artist and never fully recognized for her exceptional music talent. With her first album, she walked in and played every song without a break or a retake. She had also written and composed every song. The album was named “First Take.” I’ve been unable to find a video that does her justice. So, I will just post an audio clip for you to listen to very closely. This song is a masterpiece. And yes, your mother had great taste in music. You may want to turn the volume up a bit.

Cheers

Thanks E1 for all the tunes you put up! I forgot one that my Mom, loved, loved, loved!!! Carole King, “I Feel the Earth Move” and “It’s Too Late”!! Those songs will be forever etched in my memory and give me chills to this day, when I hear them! Carole King is an absolute song writing legend and singer! Even though she’s 83, retired in 2012, it would be so cool to see or have seen her perform live IMO! She’s in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice! Once as a songwriter and once as an artist! A BIG AMEN for Roberta Flack, E1.

REB

And the movie that put “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” on the map (and on its way to #1) – “Play Misty for Me” with Clint Eastwood.

E 1

REB,

Roberta was born in Black Mountain North Carolina, moved to Arlington VA at age 5, and graduated from Howard University at age 19. She recently passed last February at the age of 88.
