Last week, the United States Mint introduced several new products, including commemorative coins honoring the service and sacrifice of American soldiers and civilians during World War II and a set of proof quarters celebrating the accomplishments made by American women.
Released on Feb. 27, the Mint’s set of proof quarters honors Reverend Dr. Pauli Murray, the Honorable Patsy Takemoto Mink, Dr. Mary Edwards Walker, Celia Cruz, and Zitkala-Ša. The set scored starting sales of 36,108.
Last year’s set opened with sales of 40,360. Still available, it has recently climbed by 269 to 55,604. The set for 2022 introduced the product line of proof quarters featuring women, debuting with sales of 42,368. However, the set was essentially sold out from the start, with subscriptions claiming the Mint’s inventory. Its last reported sales are 42,821.
The new proof quarters set became the Mint’s strongest weekly seller, followed by products featuring the Greatest Generation Commemorative Coins, which opened for pre-orders on Feb. 29.
Comparable to the 2024 Harriet Tubman Commemorative Coins, sales numbers for the latest commemoratives were not exactly exceptional in the early going. Also, like the Tubman coins, the Greatest Generation coins have a delay in shipping; in their case, shipping won’t start until April 5. This lessens the reason for collectors to order them now, aside from a discount of $5 per coin during their 30-day introductory pricing period.

In its latest report, the U.S. Mint published sales data for 432 numismatic products. The data revealed that 119 products outperformed their sales from the previous week, compared to 39 in the prior report. Two products experienced an increase of more than 1,000 units, the same as in the previous report.
In addition, 3 products recorded negative weekly sales, while there were 17 in the previous report. One of them was high, with the 2024 Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Silver Medal falling by 687.

Much obliged, A buddy and I were planning on tomorrow, Fri., but a no go, too much of a snow pain..Were going on Saturday, nicer and better roads. The third and final day is known to be a wind down day, not as much action. However, many are in the same situation as me, given the weather. It was a good time, not too busy after all, some of those old timer coin shop guys you could tell had, had enough and were closing shop by noon. Same with NGC, I had some coins for them, but nope, kind of gave me a chip, but I understand too(snow BS for 2 days prior)..A couple of MS-65 1970-D’s seen but not much else Kennedy wise. I posted a few show comments about my visit over in the Lib/Brit article…
