US Mint 2023 Proof Morgan and Peace Silver Dollar imagesThe United States Mint is sending out notices and broadcasting reminders to customers that subscriptions for their 2023-S Proof Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars will close on Friday, Aug. 4. The subscriptions end immediately before noon ET.

U.S. Mint subscriptions operate similarly to magazine subscriptions, ensuring that subscribers receive the products as soon as they become available.

Both dollars, produced in proof finish at the San Francisco Mint facility, officially go on sale on Wednesday, Aug. 9, at noon ET for $80 apiece, with mintage limits of 400,000 for each coin. Initial order limits are set at 25 per household.

Last month, the Phladelphia Mint-struck uncirculated versions of the pair sold out, with mintages of 275,000 apiece, priced at $76 each. This fall, a distinctive set featuring both dollars in reverse proof finish will also be offered.

Summarizing, a U.S. Mint email sent on August 2 to customers regarding the last chance subscriptions for the proof dollars said:

"Subscriptions for 2023 Morgan and Peace Silver Dollar Proof Coins close on Friday, August 4 at 11:59 ET. When you subscribe to one or both products, you’ll automatically receive all future releases so you’ll never miss the chance to collect the newest product again. As an added plus, all subscription orders come with free budget shipping. Take any stress or hassle out of collecting the 2023 Morgan and Peace Silver Dollar Proof Coins and subscribe today."

I looked and it shows 31,000 (rounded) for the Morgan subscription, not 308,000
still that is an awful lot still available.
and if the Mint holds back 10% then that is another 40,000 to add to what is available. if the big boys have already filled their quota, these may be available for quite a bit. I only subscribed to 1 each. If I had the funds I think would order some of the older Morgan from a dealer even if they were less than super grade – e.g get one of each year, but that is just me.

I’ve done just what you said you’d do to show the one hundred year gap between the new and the old Morgans and Peace Dollars the older Morgans and Peace Dollars must be BU Mint State or better. I have them in a Morgan collection box. And I’m probably not the only one doing that it’s a lot of fun. It’s a great air loom to a historic timeline.

Dazed and Coinfused

Getting 1 of each. Hope they are 70s don’t have any older coins. So the 100 years no biggie. Also ain’t planning to leave to heirs. Probably donate to a children’s hospital when my time runs out.

STILL waiting for Coin News to even MENTION the Quality Issues with both uncirculated versions. I still have my original 3 ordered of each Proof. I returned 2 each of my Uncirculated ones, and won’t hesitate to do it again if there is even the slightest issue. The US Mint needs to fix the issues and stop relying on us collectors to just keep subpar items. We are taxpayers AND customers. It’s doubly bad that they keep doing this to us. They had YEARS to get this right.

Jeffrey Schwartz

Agree. How did the quality issue happen? Why? I mean, going so far as to feature apparently flawed coins in U.S. Mint Director’s official launch tweet. Easily visible without magnification. For the world to see. What’s going on?

So my latest post is shadow-banned? Cancelled me? It was factual and harmless. Kaiser Wilhelm are you site moderator?

Savage coin

Do u know if the 1922 Morgan has any value???

Major D,

He was probably referring to the 2022 Morgan silver dollars of Fiji that Mike Mezack contracted to be struck & were slabbed by ANACS, NGC & PCGS.

Craig

Seth,

I saw where Magic Mike is offering a 2023 set of Fiji Morgans/Peace Dollars. Get em before they sell out! They are so much more rare than our mint versions, according to Mike.

Seth Riesling

Craig,

Lol . Not to mention that Mike Mezack is infringing on the Mint’s trademark/copyright of all it’s coin designs since 1792 & he is also breaking the Federal Hobby Protection Act law. The Mint is slow to sue though.

Major D, The federal law known as the Hobby Protection Act of the 1970s & made more stringent in the 1990s by Congress, covers all U.S. legal tender coin designs of all years from the U.S. Mint. The word “COPY” in all caps must be on the obverse or reverse (not the edge) of any rounds of any diameter in a size that is easily readable if a private Mint wants to use such U.S. Mint designs. Unfortunately, there are so many of these Mint’s breaking the law & so many different rounds in copper, silver & even gold, that… Read more »

Kaiser,

Made at the Mountain Dew Mint in the woods of Appalachia…owned by Ma & Pa Kettle.

Kaiser,

Great pic! I especially like the “Dr. Perky” one best… Lol. I stopped drinking soda about 10 years ago, but Mountain Dew was my favorite since childhood, followed by Dr. Pepper (with like 30-something flavors in it & first formulated in Waco, Texas, not too far from where I am in Austin).

Kaiser,

Dr. Tremot sounds like a soap opera character (a full of caffeine kind of guy!).
And, yes, diet sodas are a mess of bad chemicals & can cause seizures & organ failure & some studies say cancer. At least sugar & caffeine are natural substances, and not harmful for most people if used in moderation of course.
Here’s to a good, healthy glass of tasty naturally flavored seltzer water!

Craig

Seth,

Maybe I’m just stating the obvious, but the only laws in America that are considered abhorrent to break are ‘political’ in nature. The rest, who gives a damn.

Seth Riesling

Craig,

Is that why Trump basically said he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue in broad daylight and get away with it??!!

Does any know if 1922 Morgan is worth anything

Seth Riesling

Kaiser,

Sounds like Savage coin may be a victim of the Fiji 2022 Morgan silver dollars, AKA the Mike Mezack pony trick show coins…
