Early U.S. Mint sales figures are now available for the clad 2023 Proof Set. The set, which was launched on Tuesday, June 20, recorded sales of 219,181 within the first six days. This performance made it the Mint’s top-selling product of the week.
That being said, the initial sales for this year’s set started somewhat slower than last year’s, which opened with sales of 222,746 in just four days. However, apart from that, the set’s start is the fastest since the one released in 2015, as highlighted in the following table:

In its latest report, the U.S. Mint published sales data for 323 numismatic products. Among these products, 70 outperformed their sales from the previous week, compared to 30 in the prior report. Excluding the new proof set, 2 products experienced an increase of more than 1,000 units, compared to 1 in the previous report.
Elsewhere, the report revealed that 7 products had negative weekly sales, compared to 3 in the prior report. The sales reductions ranged from 1 to 366, with the largest decrease assigned to the 2023-P&D Eleanor Roosevelt Quarters Two-Roll Sets. The other roll and bag products with Eleanor Roosevelt quarters also experienced significant declines — 35 for 2023-P&D Eleanor Roosevelt Quarters Two-Roll Sets, 276 for 2023-D Eleanor Roosevelt Quarters in 100-Coin Bags, and 279 for 2023-P Eleanor Roosevelt Quarters in 100-Coin Bags.

Maybe they should imprint qr codes on the coins to inform of stamp date. I think the appeal of 1st or early or advance is that if the psi is wrong, or planchard installed incorrectly or wrong die used you’d have a better chance of finding an error. Oddly since you are buying a graded coin any error should have been caught. I believe most coins get stamped before release so you could get very first coin or coin stamped weeks later but shipped on first day of sale. This is data from 1954, let’s assume todays numbers are similar, or it looks like roughly 5000 strikes before the die is replaced. Other comments noted larger coins like a dollar get fewer strikes. But anyway, if 80 dies are used, that would be 400,000 (5000 * 80). Of the 5000 coins struck by a die, someone is making a judgement call based on, I guess the sharpness of the coin and the ‘shine’ if that makes any sense.
