The 2022 Proof Set was the U.S. Mint’s best weekly seller for a second week in a row. It also hurdled 250,000 in sales in less than two months, reaching the level a bit quicker than last year’s set when it was two months old. That set is now just 18 shy of 500,000, offering some insight as to potential sales over time for this year’s set.
Elsewhere, single reverse proof Innovation dollars from 2019 to 2020 ranked in top weekly selling positions three through ten. Their 7-day gains ranged from 600 to 648.
In 2021, the U.S. Mint stopped selling individual reverse proof Innovation dollars and instead offered them in a four-coin set. That set climbed 551 from a week earlier, making it the Mint’s thirteenth best weekly seller. The set for 2022 is not scheduled for release until this winter.

In its latest report, the U.S. Mint published sales data for 233 numismatic products. Sixty-nine outperformed their prior weekly gains against 79 previously. One product increased by more than 1,000 units against 2 in the prior report.
In addition, 19 products registered negative sales compared to 18 in the previous sales report. The reductions ranged from 1 to 303, with the latter tagged to the 2022-W Proof Silver Eagle.

My guess on the AI dollars rising in sales is a speculator or those enticed by the “catch-up” offer we received from the mint.
I have a feeling the Innovation dollars will sell in the future as nostalgia issues.
You’re right and having them as a rotating reverse on the half dollar is a great idea. I have a feeling they’ll be like the Presidential Dollars where for the later years, there’s a very reduced interest. Better luck with the AWQs.
