Gold and silver extended their gains Wednesday to three straight days. Palladium also closed higher, its second win in a row.
Gold for December delivery added $4.30, or 0.2%, to settle at $1,970.50 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. The settlement was the highest since Sept. 1.
Gold futures ranged from a low of $1,957.20 to a high of $1,983.80. They edged up 0.1% on Tuesday and they gained 0.8% on Monday.
Silver for December delivery rose 1.2 cents, or 0.04%, to close at $27.476 an ounce. Like for gold, the close was also the highest since Sept. 1. Silver futures traded between $27.20 and $27.71. They finished up 0.4% on Tuesday and they moved up 1.9% on Monday.

October platinum fell $8.70, or 0.9%, to $973.50 an ounce, ranging from $970.60 to $989.50.
- Palladium for December delivery added $3.10, or 0.1%, to $2,417.60 an ounce, trading between $2,378.10 and $2,438.
London Precious Metals Prices (LBMA)
In comparing earlier fixed London gold and silver prices from Tuesday PM to Wednesday PM:
- Gold rose $12.45, or 0.6%, to $1,961.80 an ounce.
- Silver declined 16.5 cents, or 0.6%, to $27.38 an ounce.
