On Wednesday, Oct. 3, the United States Mint may reduce prices on eighteen gold products made for collectors.

The U.S. Mint’s lineup of gold coins have prices that can change weekly based on the trending value of gold as compared against its 2018 pricing matrix. The agency’s current coin prices are based on an average of gold that is within $1,200.00 to $1,249.99 an ounce. The yellow metal’s current average is well below that range — although gold prices on Wednesday must still be considered.

If Wednesday’s LBMA gold price for the PM is under $1,200 an ounce, then prices of U.S. numismatic gold coins will drop by as much as $50 for every ounce of the precious metal they contain.

The following table summarizes the U.S. Mint’s current and possible gold coin pricing.

The U.S. Mint has made seven pricing adjustments this year because of the changing gold market, raising coin prices three times and lowering them four times. Past adjustments have tended to happen on Wednesdays at around 2:00 p.m. ET. This article will be updated with what actually happens.

Update: The LBMA fixing price for Wednesday PM was $1,201.20, which was $1.20 higher than the triggering level required to reduce coin prices.

Information about the above gold coins is available on the Mint’s website page located here.
