Kangaroos, koalas, and eagles are just some of the subjects covered on coins for July from the Perth Mint of Australia.

They join snow leopard cubs, the fictional HSM Thunderchild, a half-sovereign gold coin and silver coins showcasing characters and the starship from the Star Trek science fiction franchise.
Information about the new Perth Mint collector coins is offered below.
2016 Australian Kangaroo 1 oz Silver Proof High Relief Coin
An adult kangaroo can be seen on the reverse (tails side) of this new coin. A silhouette of another kangaroo appears in the distance.

Each coin is struck to proof quality, in high relief, and from 1 ounce of 99.9% pure silver. The issue limit for this individual coin is 18,000 units with a maximum mintage of 20,000 allotted. Coins ship in a display case within a themed shipper and are accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
2016 Australian Koala Gold Proof Coins
Four new Australian Koala collector coins launched this week. All are struck in 99.99% pure gold and showcase the same basic reverse design of an adult koala walking along the branch of a eucalyptus tree.

Available sizes include 2 ounce, 1 ounce, 1/4 ounce and 1/10 ounce. The two larger coins are issued in high relief, enhancing their level of detail.
Coins are presented in Perth Mint display cases, ship with illustrated shippers, and are accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. Mintages are capped at 150 for the 2 ounce; 500 for the 1 ounce; 1,000 for the 1/4 ounce; and 1,500 for the 1/10 ounce.
2016 Australian Wedge-Tailed Eagle 2 oz Gold Proof Coin
A wedge-tailed eagle is featured in high relief on the reverse of this 2 ounce gold coin. The image of the bird was created by former U.S. Mint Chief Engraver John M. Mercanti.

Mintage for this 99.99% gold piece is capped at 500. It is housed in a wooden Perth Mint presentation case within a themed, customized shipper, and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
Star Trek: The Original Series Coins
Two coins associated with the Star Trek franchise debuted this week, with one of them available individually and the other only available when buying a two-coin set. The 99.9% pure silver coins depict Captain James T. Kirk and Spock, and the starship U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701, as they appeared in the original Star Trek TV series.

The reverse of the 2016 Captain James T. Kirk and Spock 1 oz Silver Proof Coin coin depicts an image of William Shatner as Captain Kirk and Leonard Nimoy as Spock. They appear against the backdrop of a galaxy.

The reverse of the 2016 U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 1 oz Silver Proof Coin features an image of the starship. This coin is only available as part of the two coin set.
The Individual Kirk/Spock coin is limited to 6,500 with only 1,500 of the two-coin sets sold. Unlike the previous Australian coins, the pair are legal tender of Tuvalu.
Like past releases, coins of the set are in unique packaging that resembles a Star Trek transporter. The standalone coin is presented in a smaller Star Trek inspired display case.
2016 $15 Australia Half Sovereign Gold Proof Coin
A rich Australian history of gold sovereign production continues with the release of this 22 carat gold collector coin. Seen on its reverse is a commemorative design of the historic Leonard Charles Wyon’s Type I reverse, which includes St. Edwards crown, a laurel wreath and the inscriptions of PERTH MINT, AUSTRALIA and HALF SOVEREIGN.

A total of 1,500 are available. Each is composed of 91.67% pure gold. Coins are housed in an attractive wooden presentation case within an illustrated shipper, and are accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
2016 Snow Leopard Cubs 1/2 oz Silver Proof Coin
Designed by Tom Vaughan, this 1/2 ounce silver coin is the third release in a series dedicated to cubs from the big cat family. Depicted on its reverse is a colorized design depicting two snow leopard cubs in the mountains of Central Asia.

Struck in 99.9% pure silver, the coin is limited to 5,000.
When completed, the Cubs series will have depicted the tiger, jaguar, lynx, snow leopard, and white lion cubs. This collector coin is legal tender of Tuvalu.
2016 HMS Thunder Child 1 oz Silver Proof Coin
The latest release from the Mint’s Famous Ships That Never Sailed Series depicts the fictional HMS Thunder Child sailing with a Martian fighting machine rising out of the water beside it. The design is representative of a battle from H. G. Wells’ The War of the Worlds. The year 2016 marks 150 years since the birth of the famous English author.

Also legal tender of Tuvalu, each coin is composed of 99.9% pure silver. The coin is presented in a wooden case in the shape of a book, and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
