Rare Coins Certified by PCGS Featured in August Hong Kong Auctions

Hundreds of rare coins certified by Professional Coin Grading Service (www.PCGSAsia.com) will be featured in the four auctions conducted before and during the August 2012 Hong Kong International Coin Convention & Antique Watch Fair (HICC).

The first auction will be conducted by Rarehouse Auction Ltd. (www.RarehouseAuction.com) at the Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel, 3 Canton Road, Harbour City, Kowloon, on August 18 and 19, 2012. It will feature more than 200 PCGS-certified rare coins including a 1905 Kiang Nan Province, Kuang Hsu silver dollar (Lin-262), graded PCGS MS63 and estimated at $40,000 USD or more.

Stack’s Bowers and Ponterio will offer more than 500 PCGS-certified coins in an auction in The Mira Hong Kong, 118 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, August 19 – 21.

The highlights include two varieties of 1911 Long Whisker Dragon pattern dollars: L&M-28; K-223; KM-Pn304, graded PCGS Secure Plus™ SP61 and estimated at $40,000 USD or more, and the extremely rare variety L&M-29; Kann-223a; KM-Pn305; H.Chang-CH28, graded PCGS Secure Plus SP63+ and estimated at $150,000 USD or more.

On August 22, the Asia Pacific 2012 Summer Auction will be conducted at the Marco Polo Prince Hotel, 23 Canton Road, Harbour City.

On August 23, A.H. Baldwin & Sons Ltd. in conjunction with Ma Tak Wo Numismatic Co Ltd. will conduct the official HICC auction at the Holiday Inn Golden Mile in Kowloon on August 23. The Ma Tak Wo/Baldwin’s Hong Kong Coin Auction #53 will offer more than 100 PCGS-certified coins including:

  • Central Mint at Tientsin silver pattern 2 Mace CD1906 (Kann 936; L&M 18), certified PCGS SP64 restrike, estimated at $4,000 – $5,000 USD.
  • Anhwei Province silver 5 cents Year 24 (1898) (L&M 202, KM Y42.3), PCGS MS64, estimated at $2,000 – $2,500 USD.
  • Hong Kong Victoria silver dollar, 1867/6 (KM 10), PCGS MS62, estimated at $30,000 – $35,000 USD.
