US Mint Online Subscription Program Expanded

US Mint Online Subscription Program ProductionsFour current coin products will be added to the United States Mint Online Subscription Program on Thursday, July 23, the US Mint announced earlier this week in a press statement.

The program works similar to a magazine subscription and, in fact, is described that way.

 

"Sign up once and we will send your chosen subscription product to you as it becomes available," the US Mint states on its web site. "Beginning with the day after you sign up for the subscription program, you will receive the next product released in the subscription series."

Gold Falls Slightly with Rebounding Dollar, Silver Advances

Gold inched slightly lower Thursday, breaking a three-day winning streak as the U.S. dollar rebounded from earlier declines. Silver and platinum posted modest gains. Outside the metals, crude-oil rallied late to end above $62 a barrel while U.S. stocks continued to march higher.

Bullion update ...In New York trading futures for bullion:

  • Silver for September delivery rose 2.7 cents, or 0.2 percent, to 13.235 an ounce.

  • Gold for August delivery fell $4.00, or 0.4 percent, to $935.40 an ounce.

  • October platinum gained by $11.40, or 1.0 percent, to $1,169.30 an ounce.

Bressett, Sauvain Receive Honorary Doctorates at 2009 Summer Seminar

ANAAmerican Numismatic Association Past President Kenneth Bressett and former ANA authentication expert Mary Sauvain each were presented the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Numismatics at the ANA’s 41st annual Summer Seminar. The doctorates were given to recognize longtime dedication to Summer Seminar as instructors.

Kenneth Bressett began teaching at Summer Seminar in 1974, and is well-known as the longtime editor of A Guide Book of United States Coins (The Red Book). Bressett has served the ANA as Director of Coin Authentication, and on its Board as Governor, Vice President and President.

Bressett was appointed to the U.S. Assay Commission by President Lyndon Johnson. He has received many ANA awards, including election to the Numismatic Hall of Fame, the Medal of Merit, and the Farran Zerbe Award. Bressett received his degree July 9. Read the rest of this entry »
