"Since his creation in 1957, The Grinch has captured hearts around the world through books, television, and film. Now, this timeless icon of Christmas spirit is available in one full ounce of gleaming .9999 fine gold, marking a historic first in the world of numismatics," said Jack McNamara, Co-Founder of Rare Collectibles TV.

"With an extremely limited mintage of just 99 coins, this exclusive RCTV release represents the perfect fusion of artistry, nostalgia, and immense rarity," McNamara emphasized.

The Grinch is one of the many beloved characters created by Theodor Seuss Geisel (1904-1991), a Pulitzer Prize-winning author of scores of treasured children’s books. He is known worldwide simply as Dr. Seuss.

Each official Dr. Seuss gold Grinch coin is graded a perfect Mint State 70 by Professional Coin Grading Service. PCGS encapsulated the coins with a special Dr. Seuss insert label.

The obverse of the 2025-dated gold coins depicts an image of the furry Grinch with the humorous motto, "E PLURIBUS FUN ‘EM."

The reverse depicts the house illustration from the book, Oh, The Places You’ll Go!, and is the common theme used on all of the initial, collectible Dr. Seuss coins in the series. The words "Dr. Seuss" are repeated in the background, and the words "ONE DOLLAR 1 OZ .9999 GOLD" are along the top and right rim.

"For nearly seven decades, the tale of How the Grinch Stole Christmas! has warmed hearts, generation after generation. Now, that spirit lives on in this first-ever official Dr. Seuss collectible gold coin," explained McNamara. "It is a true modern numismatic masterpiece where the magic of storytelling meets precious metal craftsmanship."

He added, "With gold recently reaching record highs and a mintage of only 99 coins, this is a once-in-a-lifetime, historic golden collectible that will shine in your family for generations to come."

Each Grinch gold coin comes with an outstanding bonus, one of the original 2025-dated silver Grinch coins that launched the Dr. Seuss coin series. The silver Grinch coins launched Rare Collectibles TV’s popular Seuss Coin Series a year ago. The first 100 silver Grinch examples struck were saved as gifts for these gold Grinch coins. To differentiate these special first 100 silver Grinch bonus coins, they are each designated by PCGS as "1 of First 100 Struck."

The price for a one-ounce gold Grinch coin is $6,995 or 3 payments of $2,331.67. Orders paid in full by November 15th will be shipped for holiday delivery.

Someone here is going to buy one.

Frankly I have wondered why US Native American tribes have not asserted themselves in coinage more often. This offering at $6995 seems a little excessive…..

If we use the RCTV approx value of $199 on the slabbed 1 of 100, 1oz silver Grinch, and subtract that amount from the $6,995 price($6,796) tag, the “Grinch” gold is just $256 more than purchasing an ounce worth of Superhero gold coins in OGP for $6,540. IMO, based on the relative proximity in price, either the U.S. Mint has overpriced their DC gold coins or RCTV has underpriced the gold “Grinch”? Of course the Grinch price may seem a bit rich or stingy, however keep in mind, there will only be 99, 2025 Golden Grinch coins carrying that rectangular… Read more »

Dr. Judy Shelton was nominated to the Federal Reserve during the first Trump administration. She was never confirmed by the Senate. I posted several times on MNB about her nomination. The first time I posted about her nomination was February 13, 2020, and this is my entire post: “The Senate committee meeting for confirmation of Dr. Judy Shelton to be on the Federal Reserve just ended. Assuming that ALL the Democratic Senators vote No, then it only takes 1 Republican Senator to say No and her nomination dies in committee. Questions from most senators were Aggressive to say the least.… Read more »

Interesting commentary to be sure……early in the DOGE activity this last spring there was much discussion of audit the contents of the Ft Knox depository but such discussions fell silent very quickly…..not a peep since. Some believe some of the gold held at Ft Knox is “leased” with fees going to the FED……some believe it’s not all there any more….some believe adding trillions to the national debt every year is not sustainable……BRICS is still out there…..many nations no longer use the US Petro dollar for international trade…..many nations central banks are stockpiling precious metals….while several nations have no gold reserves….Santa… Read more »

I can appreciate her opinion and ideas, but that ain’t gonna happen imo.

America’s new Golden Age is already underway since Liberation Day (Election Day – 11/5/24), and has been overwhelmingly successful so far.

Thanks for the read, Cag.

Craig

Couldn’t agree more Rick! With my AI stocks still ascending in price, I’ll be picking up some nice coins for the 250th anniversary! By nice, I mean Au coins. Cheers

Cag,

Great read. A lot of good stuff there.

Thanks

I would like to see the wording on the US Treasury bond with gold convertibility. What is the legal wording, exceptions, transfers, definition of the amount of gold etc. Last thing I would want to see is something similar to redeeming a gold or silver certificate. Other than collector value, they are near worthless.

Craig

261 million troy ounces of Au holdings? I hope you’re right, but without an audit (transparency) it’s all speculation. I’d favour the implementation of a gold-backed treasury note, but for the world to ‘trust’ the American government (not to mention it’s own citizens) wouldn’t a balanced budget be more beneficial? Spending $1 – $1.5 trillion more than is taken in each year doesn’t inspire confidence or trust in me.

I’ve always wondered how many ounces of Au are held by folks living in this country.

Rich

That’s a good question, Craig. I also have wondered the same about the folks living in China and India.

The ABPP sure is taking their sweet time in purchasing up their allotment of 2,501 Limited Edition Silver Proof Sets! Sales began 10/24 and they have until 3pm ET today, to snag the remaining 77 left as of 1:55pm ET. Yesterday at 6:30pm they had 175 left. By 7:14pm the number had been whittled down to 113, which is also where the number stood at 11:00am this morning. (At 3pm there were 74 left on the table technically?) Side note, off topic/subject. Thank you MLB for instituting a pitch clock(2023) and intentional walk rule(2017). Otherwise last night/this morning’s WorldSeries game… Read more »

@ HarryB, Rick and E 1,

All of you guys have commented on the opinion piece authored by Dr Shelton.

One clarification, ” one might reasonably anticipate that this century’s maiden issuance of a long-term U.S. Treasury bond with a gold convertibility feature—say, on July 4, 2026—would be oversubscribed by investors willing to pay a substantial premium. Besides furnishing an inexpensive means of federal government borrowing”

My assumption the date July 4, 2026, should be July 4, 2046, or July 4, 2056. It serves no purpose issuing Gold convertible bonds that are not long-term Treasuries…

Of course you wanna sell gold now it’s at it’s all time high. It’s at a high risk high reward zone.

Cag,
Re silver, for once we are on the same page regarding target area – I’m looking at $39-40 for the correction to complete. It went too far too fast IMO. Technically, that fills the breakout gap and actually is currently still above the breakout trend line.
We shall see – silver is a fickle lady (and the big banks can still try to control price via futures – until they can’t.)
