Stack’s Bowers Galleries reported strong participation and solid results in its Fall 2025 Maastricht Showcase Auction as $1,466,868 in world paper money crossed the auction block. The sale featured more than 450 lots from around the world.

The catalog was anchored by important consignments from several noted holdings, including the Alfred Kugel Collection, the Jerry and Diane Fishman Collection, and the Meadows Collection. Each contributed key rarities and scarce types, many appearing at auction for the first time in years.

Particularly strong prices were seen for high-grade and low-population notes from Eastern Europe and the Middle East, along with French Colonial issues from throughout the Francophone world — a category that continues to attract significant international interest.
"Our Maastricht Auction results continue to excite both consignors and bidders," said Aris Maragoudakis, Director of World Currency Auctions at Stack’s Bowers Galleries. "We routinely see record prices in our world paper money sales" he continued, "but our Maastricht events, in particular, have become premier auctions to debut significant numismatic finds."
Select top results include (prices realized include a 20% buyer’s premium):

The Maastricht International Fair (MIF) has established itself as a leading venue for world paper money, drawing collectors and dealers from around the globe.
"Attaching this auction to what is the largest world paper money show has great advantages," Maragoudakis said, reflecting on the event’s success. "As we gear up for the Spring 2026 Maastricht Sale, various marquee treasures have already been consigned to that auction as well as other 2026 sales. There’s no better time to consign rarities than today."
MIF Events reported that the recent show included over 225 tables and drew participants from across the globe. The organization said it is hopeful the Spring 2026 gathering could once again break attendance records.

Touched $4,217 (Spot, not Futures (Dec ‘25: $4,235)) – will this be the Generational Run? What happens the next 10-15 years?
1-Year
Whoa
It’s been really difficult to Keep Calm the past few weeks.., As well as Stack On, a handle change may be in order…. I’ve been flailing at both, 😉
Aint no stacking going on here, only sell-bells going off!
In 2011-12 I sold off a few 1 oz Valcambi Au bars for whatever spot was $1500 +/- ea. for some quick cash, ouch. Wish I could go back in time…
$52 Silver…
For those that believe in Silver this is probably your worst nightmare playing out.
$52 Silver…
Yeah those $1 daily gains will eventually lead to selling more. What goes up tho…..
Nightmare jumpin IN at these levels…..
new world Cag likely $75ag amd $5k Au soom
$52 Silver…
Love it, Love it, Love it.
IF you believe in Gold, you have to Love $52 Silver at this point in time.
Cag: my concern is availability to deliver physical product, especially silver. In this interdependent world if futures contracts cannot deliver should holders actually need physical product and demand outstrips supply. Uncharted territory…..
That’s why I’m holding onto my Ag.
it has been charted, back in 1980, when physical silver was very hard to get thanks to hunt brothers stockpiling a significant percentage of silver bars that were available for sale, that’s why prices spiked so much. today it would be difficult to replicate that because there are more regulations in place to prevent the manipulation that the hunt brothers did at the time from happening again, but today things are also different as there is more demand for silver for industrial use, particularly for solar panel production. however we also have almost 3x more silver produced annually in the… Read more »
Yesterday at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women conference in Washington, JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon said he sees “some logic” in owning gold and admitted that gold “could easily go to $5,000, $10,000 in environments like this. This is one of the few times in my life it’s semi-rational to have some in your portfolio.”
Regardless of what happens to Gold the rest of the day…
…The Batman ½ oz. Gold coin will be priced @ $3,270.00 later today…
(It is good to have a friend that is a VP of a financial firm…)
In ohhhhh.., about 5 hours – 25DA…, wait for it! Kapow! Boom! $5,015.
Oh.., 2026 is hurting my head already…,
That’s why I finally pulled the belated trigger for Batman number two, and two more 2.5’s before they are repriced..
Rick,
Good Deal…You will be good going forward…
Bat dude, et al.,Au nowmeffective @ $6,540 an ounce, like a Time Machine you can buy DC coins today at next year’s Au prices! No top on Superman and tiny legs for the aftermarket well, buy if you like at these prices you likely need a feel around by Ms. Director….
Medal $275….. DC Medal Ag price kinda stiff still @$110 a z, 2x spotish.
It’s a no-brainer, as someone mentioned before.
Cag, are you going to bother telling your “friend”, he instead could have just purchased 2 slabbed, 2021-W Proof T1 and T2 American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Set Designer Edition NGC PF70UC FDI First Label Retro Core(black) graded sets from Pinehurst Coins for just $1,932.04 vs the $2,900 valued Batman coin he traded to his “friend”? That the coins you’re trading him are not eligible to be graded with the “Designer Set” designation as coming from the designer sets? I didn’t think so! That’s what “friends” are for? To take their hard earned money and any bonus gold you can… Read more »
An hour ago in the previous thread, I said: “U.S Mint Gold coins will go up in price today(10/15/25) by 3 more tiers on the pricing range table, unless the PM fix happens to drop to $3,973.49 or lower. With daily spot gold currently at $4,208.10, at 10:22am ET, 8 minutes before LBMA close, I have a hard time fathoming that the PM fix would drop to that amount. Out of the last 12 AM/PM LBMA fixes, the last time we were at or below $3973.50, was for the AM fix on 10/7, which happened to be $3,962.30. The LBMA… Read more »
